Yard Sales Suck

My wife had the idea of having one to get rid of things. I say donate it. I lost.

So now people are haggling me over 50 cents, a dollar over what my wife marked the price at.

Im about to take all this $hit and burn it. Im tired of seeing all these busted people.

Even better, when someone haggles for 50c with you, just take the item and threaten to burn it. Say it's full price or it's gonna burn. I bet they'll pay for it

We also have a pile of other $hit marked "FREE" and my wife just came out and asks, "Why is all this free stuff still here?"

My response, "Because the people coming here are illiterate."

My mom actually sold my dad's 1978 Corvette during a garage sale when he was at work when I was 4

My favorite of the day:

10 year old leather coat.

Busted a$$ ganster with limp shows up girlfriend/wife. She asks how much. I am tired and its hot and this is stupid. I say $5. She says $2.

FINE. Now get the F off of my driveway.

I suppose the justice in this is that said ganster will be wearing this leather coat knowing that the girlfriend bought it for him for $2.

Thats actually pretty gangster when you think about it.

Did you tell your wife you'd probably get more by donating since it's deductible?

Also, is wife for sale?

How bad did your Dad kick your Mom's ass?

My wife would have several assholes after I was done with her if she ever pulled something like that

OMG my mom always had these stupid things when I was a kid... You gotta get up at like 4am to set everything up and then people literally haggle over something that is 5 cents all damn day long.

SO not even worth it. Donate it and take the deduction.

My gf had one a few years back and I gave the warning about the haggling involved. She thought it'd be a good way to get at least a little something for all the old clothes and stuff she had so she did it anyways. I stayed away that day as I wanted nothing to do with it (very supportive of me, nyet? lol Her older brother was there to help, anyways.). The 2-day garage sale ended after barely 1 day. She just donates her stuff now.

I just donate my stuff and take the deduction. A minor hassle to determine valuation, IMO, but not as much a hassle as a garage/yard sale. Plus it's more beneficial for everyone (me, SA, and SA customers).

Talking

More fun to just go around to really nice neighborhoods and put "Giant Yard Sale Today" signs at the entrances. Folks living there love all the traffic cruising through looking for the sale.

I don't think I've ever been able to get above the standard deduction for it to be worth donating. I donate to get rid of crap, but I don't expect to get anything out of it. I don't own a business or a home so that may have something to do with it.
