Fat Shaming

Not a big fan of Bill Maher but he knocks this one out of the park. He is right on the money here, Americans tend to eat like shit and not exercise enough. And fat acceptance is absolute BS, this is like accepting alcoholism. I do not agree with insulting someone because of their weight but to say that it is ok to be 5'4 and 300 pounds is crazy.

I'm on the heavier side and i don't mind people poking jokes or ridiculing what I eat, it a good reminded that I got to adjust by habit sometime soon.

I was on a cruise recently and always wondered how the 'bigger' people fit in the showers? There always seems to be alot of them on cruises probably because of the AYCE buffets.

They probably don't even shower, but I'd like to think they try.

I always thought that it would be more interesting to have weigh-in scales and not photographers on the gang plank during embarkation and disembarkation, to let everyone know how much weight they packed on during the cruise.

As for the showers, I'll share the secret from a ship's comedian. What you do is soap up the walls, climb in, close the door, and spin to clean yourself.....

Sometimes, humor is needed to make a serious point. Our culture doesn’t seem to make people accountable for their actions and the results aren’t pretty. We seem to be eating cheap, processed food and it’s coming from outside the US.

As if that will change anything. Nearly 60% of Americans are overweight and over 30% are obese.

Nearly all fast food of any type is poison, and it's not American food unless it's buried under 1lb of cheese. Throw in the hard facts that working out every day for at least an hour is complete insanity to most people, and their continued sedentary lifestyle leads to land whales galore.

Staying fit is extremely simple:
1. ZERO fast food. Cook everything at home.
2. As little sugar as possible, and sure as hell no soda/alcohol.
3. Marginal carb intake, bread/pasta are absolute killers. Brown rice only, never white and sure as hell not fried ffs.
4. If it ain't water, don't drink it. Sports drinks loaded with sugar are poison.
5. At *least* one hour of physical activity every day, with no days off. Never train to failure, it's the repetitions that matter, every....single....day.
6. Minimum of eight hours sleep every night.
7. Never partake in breakfast. Water and a piece of fruit until lunch. Breakfast is the devil's meal.

It's a lifestyle choice, you have to want it. I've been following these steps for nearly 25 years now and at 43 I feel as good as ever. It's not easy, which is why almost everyone falls off.

But....but....never trust a man who doesn't drink.....

I agree with many of your points, but then again a guy's got to live a little. If you're only living to prolong your life, what's the point if you aren't enjoying it. I can't imagine going through life without a nice bolognese or carbonara dish every now and then.

Reduce sugar intake and I think people would be blown away by how quickly they'll shed weight without even working out.

Sugar is more addictive than opiates. Carbs are sugar. Sugar-free? Doesn't matter. The fake sugars trick the mind into thinking sugar will be introduced into the body thus insulin starts being created and with that comes the fat producing train. Remember that.

There are good calories and bad calories. Sugar-based calories are by far the worst.

Want to get in shape, consider the following.

1) If you drink soft drinks (sugar or sugar-free) or sugary drinks (lattes, iced coffees, fruit juice, etc.), stop ASAP. These beverages are about as bad as it gets in terms of adding bad and excessive calories to your diet. Drink water, unsweetened tea, or unsweetened hot coffee.

2) Reduce/remove your intake of processed carbs. Once it hits your mouth, your body doesn't view a spoonful of sugar, a bag of corn chips, or a bowl of cereal any differently. It's all sugar.

3) Try to do a couple of short-term fasts throughout the week. This means not eating for 14+ hours. If you get really hungry, eat some veggies.

4) The healthiest sugars come from real fruit. Fruit juice is terrible for you though. Coke or fruit juice, your body views them as the same.

With that said, I'm not saying you shouldn't eat sugar at all. Everything in moderation. Live and have fun, but have some awareness too about what you're consuming. Being overweight/obese is so damn hard on your body.

I certainly understand what you're saying, but for me personally? I hope I don't have longevity, honestly I wouldn't mind cashing out before 55 (not sure I even want to be around that long). What most would see as mental illness in this regards, is me being completely comfortable with my mortality. I've always worked out as hard as I do, and for such a prolonged period of time that I hope I burn out before getting old. I've thought this way my whole life, and this isn't some midlife crisis thing.

Right. File this under another one of those medical miracle articles we read about, never to be heard from again.

Does this pill also fix the boredom of it all? lol
