Ken Miles' 427ci GT40
Placed second in '66 Le Mans thanks to Considine 'important chap' jumping him at the slowing down finish line by a second or so in a pre planned Ford dirty trick.
Miles won the 24hr Daytona and 12hr Sebring of the same year but was tragically killed later on in a J-car testing accident at Riverside where he was thrown clear and killed instantly. |

I like how the movie shows the relationship between Ken Miles and Carroll Shelby. Ken was the talent behind the wheel and under the hood. Shelby convinced Ford to utilize Ken's talent and motivated/encouraged Ken to drive for ford. They both had special gifts and made a great team.

Shelby was a great driver in is own right but he had some kind of injury/condition that didn't allow him to race professionally any more. They talked about it at the beginning of the movie but I can't remember what it was and I'm too lazy to look it up. lol

Yes Shelby was quick enough but it was indeed a heart condition that made him stop racing and hand the reins to others.
