I feel like I’m living in an alternate reality when I see adults driving around with 50 rubber ducks seemingly glued to their Wrangler dashboard, What causes these extra special drivers to do this? I can’t understand the trend.

It's definitely a Jeep thing. Many of my "professional" colleagues within my organization are Jeep drivers/enthusiasts, and they actually have a custom where they trade ducks.
Even strangers who happen to be part of this culture will leave ducks on random jeeps encountered in parking lots and this is accepted as a ritual amongst jeep owners.

I don't spend time worrying about, I was simply responding to the OP's post... kind of like you responding to my post.

I don't think it's a case of "worrying"or judgment. More of the OP just curious as to what the deal is with the ducks. Like trying to gain insight towards the significance behind the trend.

Ah, perhaps quoting the OP would have made that clear.

Blame Canada for #duckduckjeep.
My DW's Wrangler was ducked for the first time yesterday at the grocery store, by an old man parked next to her with a Wrangler. She doesn't duck anyone, but is aware of the practice (and how CJ/Wrangler owners wave at each other when they pass much like motorcycle riders). FWIW, NY State DMV refused to issue "DUCK YOU" and "DUCK ME" as vanity license plates.....

My sixty-something year old sister has little figurines on the dash of her 20-year old Pilot. I don't get that at all, seems a little childish to me

It seems like 1/3 of the cars on our local roads are Wranglers, but I've heard that they are more common in Colorado but probably less population.....

It was actually my wife's Wrangler, I just drove it on the weekends. At any given time, she would have like 15-20 ducks on her dash. I'd try to duck a few other wranglers when I saw them, much to the protest of my kids who wanted to keep all the ducks and not give any away. But she got ducked all the time - I think when you have a different colour of Jeep than standard or done something to it, you are more likely to get ducked as an appreciation thing, because I saw a lot of bog standard Jeeps driving with no ducks, but if it were an unusual colour or lifted / big tires /etc, then they usually had lots of ducks. We never bought the ducks though, except for one, and that was more of a joke because it was this monster duck (like 20 times bigger than the usual) just to act as a statement piece to make other people laugh when they saw it. |

I've been seeing this a lot more recently.
I'll add to this and just say, I also don't understand Jeeps period (wrangler specifically) - unless you're planning to take it off-road. But for solely on-road driving, they drive absolutely terribly. I'm not sure if there's a different version of the wrangler that drives better on the road or not, but I once had a Wrangler as a rental car, and it was quite possibly the worst driving car I've ever been in. The thing wouldn't drive straight, needed constant correcting, it was slow as hell, everything squeaked and rattled, and it was just loud and not in the pleasant engine noise way - so much tire and wind noise. Absolutely horrible experience. Now that I've offended Wrangler drivers... someone tell me I did it wrong

See the fake badges thread. It's a mystery to me.
The people who know about "M" will know it's fake and will think it's dumb, and the people who don't know about "M", won't care anyway. Lose-lose situation.
