Brake sensor light won't reset

I’m brand new here, so I don’t know if I’m in the right place.

I have 2020 X5 xDrive40i. Just put new brake pads and new wear sensor on front. Brake light on dash won’t go off, and I’ve tried everything to reset it. Did the diagnostic mode, holding BC button, but no brake pad option appears. Only oil, and brake fluid, both showing reset impossible. Got into the hidden menu and did the brake service option there, and still no reset. Disconnected battery and left lights on to drain everything. Reconnected, but brake light still on. Frustration level is now off the charts. Does anyone know what the secret is??

You need to release hand brake / parking brake first before any attempt to reset brake pad light.

Have tried resetting with emergency brake on, and with it off. Still didn’t work.

Double check that the connectors are fully seated on the sensors, an open circuit will cause the light.

I’m having the same issue. Did you manage to reset it?

The ECU measures the resistance of the sensor in order to identify that specific sensor. If you reset without changing the sensor, it will detect that the sensor hasn't been changed and the reset will fail. So to reset you need to disconnect the sensor and jump the pins of the plug directly while you reset. Then reconnect the sensor.

YMMV

Did you ever figure out what was wrong?

Were you able to resolve this? I had tried everything you mention with no luck. not even with the obd scanner.
