I shot this eagle through 100-yards of light fog, so it's about a 100% crop, plus a ton of processing to get the eagle distinct, but I like the water color-like effect that I ended up with:

That 7D MkII and 500mm F4 II with the 1.4x TC seems to be the ideal combo for BIF and wildlife. Some killer shots showing up here and in Flickr lately.

Love mine, with and without the TC. The AF is fantastic and the files are super sharp.

Agreed. I prefer to shoot without the TC, but the kites are pretty tiny raptors, and they don't usually oblige and hover right over me
