Driver side door lock

Today I took off my m5 mirrors so I can get them painted sapphire black since they are curently jet black. When I was putting the panel back on I noticed that my driver side lock button/nub would not go down to the lock position, the passenger side didn't have this problem. After trying to see if I had broke it in someway, I gave up and put the everything back together and tried the central locking and the fob, both of which locked the driver side door.

So, my question is, is it normal for the driver side button/nub to not be able to be pushed down to lock? I also noticed that coding I had done for unlocking the doors when i pull the fob out, doesn't work anymore. Could that be caused because of unplugging the battery? The other coding I had done still works thought, so I don't think thats it. Any help on this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
