Off to the VPC

I saw a black 325, and a white 330 with a rear spoiler coming down the raod and headed for the VPC this morning. There were more in line on the road, just couldn't see what they were. So if you were waiting for west coast delivery, your ship may have come in.

I wonder if the cars were from the ship Kassel which the San Diego Port web site said was coming tonight. My car is on the Kassel and hope that it came in early!

Hmmm how did they get a spoiler installed at the factory? I thought it's a dealer installed option.

The Vehicle Processing Center is on Pacific Coast Highway right?? How long does the car stay there? My car is on Bellona, which is supposed to dock on August 4th. Thanks.

BMW786: check out this article re: the vehicle processing center that was posted in another thread. http://www2.autospies.com/article/in...4&categoryId=1

Marcus330i: they probably wont unload the cars and move them to the VPC until tomorrow then? Maybe UncleWede will let us know when they start rolling by tomorrow. :rocks:

Drove down Hueneme road, didn't see any vehicles this morning. I can't see them directly out my window, only when I happen out to the road. Sorry.

My car is also on Bellona! I was originally told it would dock 8/7, but looked on the SD page and now appears to be docking 8/4.

People people....when the San Diego website lists your ship you need to check the departure date from SD and add a day....that's when your boat gets to Port Hueneme. (BMWs are not delivered to San Diego....the ship carries VWs for San Diego and BMWs for Pt Hueneme.)

Example: Bellona leaves SD Aug 5th so it will get to PH on the 6th more or less. I say more or less because it's only about a 9 hour sail.

The Kassel will be in PH about 3AM Friday morning....so look for some action on the PCH Fri/Sat. Please keep your eyes peeled for a black 330i with Euro tags (white/orange)....that's for ME! (See pics below of the Kassel leaving San Diego today)

So close, and then they bring it up here ;( I've never seen them drive any vehicles off on the weekend, so hopefully they're out there now.

marcus330i: The San Diego website says the ETA (Est. Time of Arrival) for Bellona is 8/04 so if I add a day, shouldn't it dock at Port Hueneme on 8/05? Please clarify, thanks.

Does anyone know how many cars are on any given ship? Are the cars in shipping crates? I wonder if there is a thread somewhere for when the cars are on the boat.

786: You need to look at the departure time out of SD...not the arrival time. So the Bellona will leave on the 5th and probably arrive PH on the 6th. (It takes only half a day to go SD to PH) They revise the SD schedule frequently....so check it for updates. I've even seen them change a boat's arrival/departure dates by several DAYS! Boats get delayed....hurricanes....mechanicals...whatever.

Most of these large ships hold up to 5000 cars. They are not in crates. You know those small plastic "pop-out" squares on the front and rear bumpers?...they pop out the covers and use cables to attach the cars to the floor of the deck....so the cars don't move around during rough seas.

They usually have some sort of bubble wrap on several sections, just depends on the vehicle. The X's come completely wrapped up, with a zipper of some sort for the windshield and driver door. Those hooks sticking out of the bumper always look funny.

Thanks marcus330i for the pics of the Kassel. Hopefully they will unload the cars today and take them over to the VPC ASAP. Also keep an eye out for a SG 325i, thats mine. :rocks: I am guessing there may be more than one.

So....DUDE: Where's my car?

Hey fabolous, good news for us! Bellona is to depart San Diego the same day for Port Hueneme instead of the next. That means it will be there on Friday, which means it will be that much closer to the VPC! whoo hoo!!
