2021-2022 premier league virtual pub thread

saw the chelsea thread and figured we need a broader thread to talk trash throughout the season.

i got into premier league due to my son's interest and picked spurs as my club to follow because (1) bale was my son's favorite player at the time, (2) london is one of my favorite cities in the world, and (3) didnt want to bandwagon on arsenal or chelsea. little did i realize that i resigned my fate to being tormented every year with the way levy runs the club. but i'm fully committed to spurs for better or worse.

obviously a great start to the season on the pitch for spurs within their takedown of man city...but the specter of kane's departure looms big. unfortunately i think he's gone (to city) after this coming weekend.

ManU and Wolves

I think at this point Adama is my favorite player. I was built kinda like him in my youth, and even in the last decade when I would show up to ref, some of the younger refs were amazed at my speed based on my body type. They also referred to me as MR. Rugby, even though I have very little info on how that game is played.

UNFORTUNATLEY, all that upper body bulk has shifted with gravity to the central region

One thing I kind of like about last season was the covid aspect. You could loss you best or a vital player without notice. I liked that suspense regarding the big games.

But I think this season will be like last in that the team with the best and most amount back-up players will be able to last the whole season.

Chelsea, Man City and even United seem to have the best big squad.

That said go Chelsea.

I like watching Wolves and Adama.

However, I picked the wrong season to be an Arsenal supporter!

On the bright side, being a small fractional owner of ManU, I'm up a few bucks this month and want to encourage everyone to buy their officially-licensed United kit (jerseys and stuff for us Americans) to keep the dividends flowing.....

Been an Arsenal fan since 2002. Rebuilding after Wenger is gonna be a long process and I'm not too worried. We are never gonna be able to compete with City, Chel$ea, and Man U in terms of money, but I also don't want some billionaire oil tycoon to come buy us out and use us like his weekend plaything.

I can see us finishing anywhere from 5th to 12th this season.

Also how tf are we so unlucky with our starters and injuries. We start the season with Auba and Laca getting Covid, Partey getting injured in preseason, and Gabriel getting injured in the Olympics.

Lukaku is exactly the type of player Chelsea needed with his back to the goal style and strong ball possession and ability to pass. This is going to be a fun season.

well, spurs probably shouldve lost that match against wolves, but i'll take any win on the road. this club really needs some help in the midfield, their transition game is pretty weak.

i hate seeing a chelsea win...but it did result in an arsenal loss...so yay!

Chelsea win and united tie this weekend, what a great weekend, I can't wait to see Chelsea once Lukaku has fully adjusted, he was rag dolling defenders all game!

Next match coming up will be a good one against Liverpool at Anfield. That will be a true test to gage where they're at. I like Chelsea's chances though. Yeah I think Lukaku is going to only get better as he adapt to his new team. Space and opportunities are going to be wide open for others as a result of him dragging (literally) defenders with him near the box.

kane staying at spurs!!! unbelievable. let's hope his heart is in it. surely he'll push for an exit after this season (if not during the winter transfer window), but hopefully nuno can get him focused on winning now!

Hard to imagine how he could have his heart fully in it considering how vocal he had been in wanting to get out of there. Having said that, he also knows he's showing other teams what he's capable of after this season is over assuming he doesn't get transferred prior to that.
