Would you change something in your life?
Now think about this. Think about how the whole timeline of your life would change. Thinking about where you are now, would you go back and change anything substantial if you had the chance?
(Don't give me any BS about playing the lottery or buying stock. I'm talking about changes to your actual life events.) I regret not spending more time with my parents before my Dad passed away. And there are one or two minor incidents I'd have changed. But overall, I'm happy about where I'm at and wouldn't change anything that would affect my current situation.

Yeah, I agree. Obviously we all have sucky experiences over the course of our lives, it is what you do with them that make the difference. If you allow those terrible events to take your life over, you’re going to be miserable.
I have tried to take any bad decisions or experiences and use them as fuel or learning experiences and move on. They have helped me become the person I am today. I can point to several life experiences that on the surface I would have hoped never happened, but caused me to change things in my life and get to the next level. Without those events, who knows where I’d be. There’s a great episode on Star Trek TNG about this concerning Jean Luc Picard. It explains why you don’t mess with changing past events. |

I probably should have worded thing differently, but I was thinking more about changing actual events that happened in your life rather than wishing you'd done something that never happened. I mean I could wish I'd gone into the Air Force academy and flown jets for a career, but that was never even a remote possibility because I was such a lazy punk in high school.

Probably would have tried to go to a top tier law school and become a lawyer. I think about how much I dislike my job on a daily... then I think about my alternatives; and they are not good lol.
Ah... seeing your above clarification... can't say I would change much. |

We all have bad days but overall at the moment I’d say I’m quite Happy where I am.
Made some questionable financial decisions when I was younger taking out loans and finance which in the long run just added pressure and stress for possesions I wouldn’t miss if they were gone, a fancy dining table being the perfect example. Looking back I would love to have lived my early 20s without that pressure and having the freedom to have more holidays etc. Or even the sense to save that money which would of given me better security now we have a child. |

Exactly. You never know how a change would play out. Picard turned into a pussy. We could all use a little jab from a Naussican. I'm here for the ride I get, with the caveat that I can end it at any time I want.

I would change three five minute incidents in my life that resulted to years of bitterness.

Everyone has regrets but it isn't healthy to dwell on them. |

I regret nothing, I don't need to. I just wished others would not have worked so hard to distort reality as they did.

There was a time period in my life where I was not obsessed with eating blood pudding black sausages.
I wish I could go back and spend that time also eating blood pudding sausages. Other than that.. no real regrets. |

I would not have gone to law school, and I tell anybody who will listen or ask me about it to stay far away and do something else.

I'm young so haven't had many life experiences yet. Career-wise I'm where I've always wanted to be since giving up on being an NBA player in the 7th grade, so I can't complain.
I do sometimes wish I had joined a frat in college but it probably would have affected my career adversely. Still the "what if" always lingers in my mind. Should have started lifting sooner. |

If I could change one thing...it'd be sparring at 295 (I was 180) more than a few times. I was quite competitive w/ people up to 240 and 295 was the next person up in weight. I was awarded a very slight, permanent and random twitch of my head/neck + a concussion (head slammed against a brick wall) as a result of my efforts but I gave as good as I took and learned a different aspect to my game. I also didn't get schooled every time and have a couple of W's that I take pride in so no regrets.

i have contemplated this, and ‘changing and event/events’ is very different then ‘having it to do over again’
the only things thing i would change would be getting the kids (on kid actually) out of ‘our’ bed sooner other then that, i’m pretty happy with the way i have played my hand. That being said, i’m not done yet, i may still have a card or two up my sleeve |

I have some regrets that resulted in getting divorced at 28 yrs old... after only two years of marriage. Here I am two years later, have a girlfriend but still no children. Stuck on the opposite side of the country from family and friends... wondering what the hell Im doing or where Im headed. Cali is awesome in its own right but Ill never sign a mortgage here... used to own a house with my ex wife... miss the feeling of owning a property and the pride that I felt when doing work around it. Feeling a bit like time is slipping by as I always wanted to be a young parent. Yeah... Im fucked. Hopefully Ill come to my senses soon!
