Totally oblivious, and it probably saved her from being caught by a bear

Sends shivers down my spine. I bet she had a near heart attack when she watched this back

The audio of the bear seems like it was added in.

Can anyone confirm the video is even real?

Gonna have to agree with you here. Her voice is just as clear as the bear, but the snow and rattle of the camera come in distorted, as they should. Given the distance of the bear and the shitty mics those cameras have I don't think that audio should nearly been so clear or perceptible.

I didn't think it was the sound of the bear but rather snow being crushed under her board which can be rather loud when gong slow.

But then if the bear is making a decent effort to run, maybe it's grunting that loudly.

I suppose the quality is low enough to easily fake though...

I've had the pleasure of meeting a bear on my "backyard".

My family summerhouse is a big bear country and as it usual for us finns, I was at ours alone with my dog (k, this was over 20 years ago, and please note that I am not really a normal girl, or a woman).

It was late spring, and I took my dog out for his normal "hey let's walk for miles so I can feel like im not torturing you when we we go fishing later" walk around 5am.

I wasn't paying attention, so I heard it too late. There is no excuse for me realizing so late that I was listening in on something big shredding a tree.

Back then we were told to walk calmly away while making noise, so I sang very badly the three songs I knew oh so well that I wouldn't miss a beat. My Karelian bear dog went after the sound and quickly came back to me which made the singing and walking faster.

There is a photo of my 10 or something old me in the bears puppy's footprint taken the next day. The birds were quiet the next day, but that was probably due to the traumas my singing caused. I still feel bad about that.

Your epic language skills make EVERY SINGLE STORY better. I mean that. Also, now that I have watched your interview, I hear it in your voice. The best. So, we need to see the picture - you do realize this. If it came down to hand-to-paw combat, I would still pick 10 year old Lups over the bear.

watch it again, you can hear the bear "roar" or whatever you call it, coming through quite clear, especially for the distance.

I can give you my mothers phone number. She should have access to it.

If I had realized then just how close I was and later on I've measured it, it was like 600 ft (200 meters) I would've panicked and I am sure I would've gone after the dog too.

The funniest thing is, I took my kids to this forest. An adder nest was there and it was an early spring then too. All the snakes were just trying to warm up.

My three year old ran up to it, and one or two bites for a kid that big is livable if taken to er straight away. I distracted the kids and got them further away without a panic but jesus christ every time I think about it.

What if I would've panicked on my way after the kid got bitten?
What if I wouldn't have been strong enough to run with a load?
What if I would've done the ultimate stupidity and put myself in between them?

A year ago we went on a lovely family holiday (I smeared my sister-in-law's backpack with bacon in my dreams, and my hubby would not have gotten out alive if I wasn't a pacifist) to Yellowstone. I'm still amazed my kids got out of the car.

Lucky for the bear you were 10. I'm assuming bears don't mess with you when you walk through the woods now no?
