TV Dilemma

I just finally finished the flooring in the master bedroom of my new house. Been living in one of the guest rooms for the past couple months. My old house had a much smaller master bedroom so the TV I had in there was a 32" Sharp Aquos. In my new master bedroom, the opposite wall from my bed is 28 feet away. Yes, 28 fucking feet. I have two options:

A. Take the Hitachi 1080p plasma in my family room and move it to my bedroom. Then I can get something bigger, newer, and with more features down there. The only problem I'm seeing is that 42" is going to still look really small at 28 feet.

B. Buy a larger TV for my bedroom. I'm thinking 53" minimum, but 57" is going to be better.

Caveats: Wife says having a larger TV in your master bedroom than your family room is odd. She also won't let me put a projector in there. I already tried. I have a 1080p projector in my media room right now anyway.

Opinions and thoughts would help.

i think something around 57 is good
we got a 55" Sony Grand WEGA in the family room. i can only watch it comfortably by sitting directly on the other side of the room

and about the thought of having a bigger tv in the bedroom. its more about the space you have...and you have to accommodate it correctly. in your case, a bigger tv

having a huge tv in a small room will look weird, but having a big tv in a big room doesnt

Our family room isn't small by any means, it's just wide, not long and the way we set it up, the viewing distance is only 13 feet.

It depends on how much you use the bedroom TV. If a lot then get something big enough to see well

make your wife stand in front of the bed and hold the TV when you want to watch. that's what wives are for.

I've got a 46" TV on the wall in my bedroom suite, and it's probably over 30 feet from my bed...

But there's a 65" in the room next door, and I think that'd be perfect.

If the viewing distance is about 10-15ft you should get something from 50-55/57. If it's 28 ft then something MUCH bigger. Either that or you should rearrange the room. Perhaps make 2 separate "rooms" out of the big one (section it off). That way you have a relaxing/reading area and then an area to watch tv.

oh no i wasnt saying that the room was small...just saying as an example
i mean like if the viewing distance is large, youd have to relate that to the size of the tv obviously, so youd def need a bigger tv

you have a 42" for a 13ft distance...so i think 57 should be good for 28ft

How about 110" right outside my bedroom? That's right.

We looked at 55" today at Best Buy. Wife loves the Samsung LED TV, but one of my friends works for Panasonic and can get me a Viera at like half retail.

I'd love to, but can't justify the price on a bedroom.

Get a couch if you can't get a projector.

If you must, look into the Pioneer 600M. There aren't many around, but it's the best 60" TV out there. It has Elite Kuro glass, but no stand or speakers. It's also price pretty well consider the Elite panel you're getting.
