When taking men's multi vitamin tabs were the norm and are now replaced by beta blockers, fluid management, blood pressure and blood thinner pills.
And rather than having Tattoos, a badge of honour has become surgical scars from things you've survived. 😀 |

Seriously. Like sitting at the dinner table. I'm thinking of buying a nice office chair for the dining room because my back is killing me after just 20 minutes or so on the dining table chairs.

You are going to look funny sitting at the dining room table on a office chair. Your wife is going to think that you are really getting old |

Getting X-rays this week to make sure it's just an old man's back, and nothing else.

Was in ED at hospital a couple weeks back . Heart was playing up a bit, and blood pressure hitting 190s ( newish heart valve works well 😀 GP was being cautious so got the ambo treatment.
Had to smile, waiting for the usual tests , ED so full that I was in a open area on a bed and lined up either side with elderly fall victim's, one side middle age women with elderly dad who had had a fall, but had it with waiting around for a few hours. It became a battle of wills. Father verse daughter, daughter reminding dad that she had legal say in his health matters , he saying she wouldn't be on the planet if it wasn't for him. Fortunately he tested out ok , and they revised his meds, but I reckon they had a very limited window before he was going to get up on his walking frame and left the building. |

Younger brother and I are redoing my garage. New workbench, etc. Lots of time sitting or kneeling on the floor to work on electrical connections, etc. Why is it so damn hard to get up off the floor once you pass 50 or so? Now I understand "I've fallen and I can't get up!"

I threaded two 7-conductor sprinkler cables up through and under my juniper bushes a few days ago, plus installed a new WiFi Rainbird controller on the upper patio. I used a broom handle to thread the cables through the brush. The hill is steep.
Next, I sat on a 10 inch high step stool and finished the wiring connections to nine valves. All worked great. Everything else I hire out. That includes the yard maintenance; cleaning windows; cleaning rain gutters, etc. I love watching those blokes from my spa while sipping on a glass of Chard. So yeah, I can still do some work, but I know my limits.

I don't feel very old (46), but had a eureka moment in the car today hah. Howard Jones' "Things Can only Get Better" comes on over the radio and I remembered absolutely loving that song when I was a kid. For some reason, it also brought back memories of my parents playing Sam Cooke, Chuck Berry, and other many "oldies" when I was about the same age as when Howard Jones' song was first released.
Let's break this down. Jones' song came out in 1985, I was nine years old. Let's say a Sam Cooke song my parent's played was from 1962, so that "oldie" was only 23 years old when I listened to it as a kid. Jones' song is now 37 years old, NOT 23 years old like that "oldie" from 1962 when I listened to it in 1985. Yeah, I'm old now. What I do find interesting however, is that it seems music from when I was a kid (say mid 80s-early 90s) still plays on many radio stations, while the traditional "oldies" from say the 50s-60s really only play on stations specific to that era. I guess that makes songs from the 80s/90s really not feel like "oldies" since they still feel contemporary due to the radio play they still receive. Was just sort of an odd recognition of my age now. Heh. |

You're a little older than my oldest kid. She's 40. Love 80s music. Also love Sam Cooke and Chuck Berry. Love it all. 60s, 70s, 80s. Even like some of the 50s. It's all good. Pop and rock. There's so much for us to enjoy.

True story
My wife accompanied my elderly father inlaw to a medical appointment recently with a anesthesiologist and a nurse. My father-in-law is hard of hearing and the nurse who has a foreign accent is asking him about allergies as he’s recently become allergic to peanut butter and develops a rash. Nurse say to him. I hear to have issues with peanuts. My father inlaw replies in a loud and annoyed voice “ I don’t have any issues with my penis “ Needless to say , everyone was trying to hold in the laughter and keep a straight face. |

As to hair:
...when you were used to visit your hair stylist of your least mistrust three times a year (~bad enough~) and now have to tell him "see you in two years, if something has regrown".
