Wife and I are in Romania to drive the Transfagarasan Highway through the Carpathian mountains. Great food, and super cheap! Bowl of vegetable soup with huge chunks of beef, $1.50 usd, mixed grill platter for two, $10 usd. Three glasses of wine and a doubles Baileys, $11 usd.

Spicy beef tips was my appetizer. Lobster ravioli was my entree. I had the soup (split pea) instead of the salad, but I didn't take a pic of that.

I realized my pics show my trick to keep the cocktail napkin from sticking to the bottom of the rocks glass. I rest the edge of the glass on the straw. 💡

I must admit, I want to be living your restaurant life. Your meals on here make me a little jealous. That looks amazing!

To be completely honest, I'm jealous of the guys that have a good cook at home! If I don't cook, it's takeout at home.

I just had a coworker travel with me throughout New England last week and she was blown away by the restaurants I took her to. They're not always expensive, but I enjoy hunting down good places to eat. The other regionals she will be traveling with have a high bar to meet!

You put some salt on the napkin? I gotta try that.

Yes sir. The drink sits on the salt and not directly on the napkin. The level of "sweat" lingering on the glass determines the amount of salt required, but works like a charm. Nothing worse than trying to look suave at a bar, then picking up your drink only to have the napkin or coaster fall into your plate or on your shirt or lap. To be honest, I've never even thought to use a stir stick.

Out on eastern Long Island NY today and ate dinner at Jerry & The Mermaid in Riverhead. Had some muscles; a broiled-seafood platter; and creme brûlée cheesecake for desert.
