thks Rob

cant wait for you to get back so we can do a drive together.. too bad I miss you guys last time.

yeah! this DCT is awesome quick ... I get alot for Audi RS and Carreras tagging along the beltway. I bet you did too when you were driving your M3 here.

DCT will really be good times at the track from what I've heard and
your 911 will put fear in someone eyes too

Nice pick up Al. I have decided that I will sell the M3 in the next year and go for a R8. Seeing them at Summit Point was a big selling point. It takes over a year to get them but there are no dealer mark ups!

Yeah...when I drove my M3 on the beltway I'd find alot of people were following me...I didn't know! LOL

Yeah you got to let us know how the DCT does on the track or nice twisties...I've been saying I wanted to take my 997 up to Skyline Drive for the longest or out I-66 headed toward W.VA border so since I'll have reconstitution and reunion time with the family when I get back I should have plenty of time for drives! Am thinking about setting up an M course too as a reward to myself for getting home in one piece too when I return too.

As for my 997...I've never put her on the track...had alot of very fun drives out I-270 area and beyond with the Rennlist/PCA club folks tho! Now those were fun!

YES it is confirmed that Sparkling Graphite is NOT available for '09 e92 M3's so yest that does make my '08 SG coupe a rather unique color. Saw it on the forum here and confirmed it at my dealer before I left! And yes I got my car from Mil Sales fully optioned except for Cold Weather Package and HD Radio for $61k total w/the gas guzzer tax included. So NOWAY I'd go to the dealer now and pay what your sticker is showing (north of $70k) just for idrive and DCT. I COULD order another one while I am here since I qualify to do so but that would mean selling my current M3 and in this financial market? Naw...I'll enjoy my toys and be happy. Besides like you said I always have the 997 Carrera to switch too! No THAT is what I call Balance in the FORCE!

I'll have to bring it out sometime so you can see/drive it...

Will do...I have internet access and spend most of my down time here and reading email! LOL Haven't bought any new mods but am thinking strongly on doing the Dinan Springs and ordering them right before I leave her so my dealer will have them ready and in stock for when I arrive home. Next mod other than that will likely be winter tires to go on my 18" wheels since it will be late winter when I get home and usually when we get all of our snow! Then aftermarket 19" wheels in the spring time!

Go for it re: 997...I picked up mine in 2006 with 1 yr on it and 8.5k on the odometer for a pretty good price as a CPO vehicle! I actually traded my old ;'02 M3 AND my '99 996 in for it! Which is part of the reason why when I saw the new e92 M3 I had fantasies about getting it to re-balance my car "portfolio" so to speak! Both are great cars...I just feel bad because since I've gotten the M3 I've only driven the 997 twice (since 11th of July!) But now that the new updated 997 is out with the new engines, PDK (Porsche's version of DCT), new touchscreen NAV and bluetooth with Ipod, and LED lights you should see the 997 prices improve a bit for CPO/used models as some more folk upgrade! Hell I even want one...but the one I built last night night cost $90k...no thanks.

its hard to have 2 great toys at one time, if ever I'd get a chance again I'll get a cabrio and a 2 seater roadster or coupe. One thing about Porsches though is that te resale is better than most. Maybe when you ready to sell it, I may be in the market for one so you can give me a good deal

WOW! Brothers and Sistes I taught I saw heaven and earth met for awhile.

Unfreakingbelievable!
The gear change was smoothier and quick but had a crisp snap to it.
It certainly will give a smile to your face. In a blink of an eye, you're hitting a 100mph. WOW! this is trouble folks.

I cant say enough thks to the folks at Fairfax BMW, especially Robert Ogust GM & John Hayes the SM for helping me make this dream come true.

Hope yo see you guys sometime to also show the new iDrive

btw! any photos from the Sterling Exotic Car Meet?
Glad to here your enjoying the new car. The MDCT and new i-drive are nice upgrades. see you at your 1200mile service.

Thought about selling it right before I left when I looked at it in the garage and realized I hadn't driven it since the week before I picked up the M3 at the PDC. Then I took her out and drove her for a few hours...and all was forgiven and I was like "are you crazy!" But who knows...if PDK (porsche's dual clutch is in my future in a few years...) otherwise it will be my classic weekend toy!

If your asking how i know about the MDCT and CIC, I have had a chance to play with both systems. The MDCT is the best smg BMW has brought out to date(and this is coming from a die hard 6MT person). The shifts are smooth and quick without the clunkiness of the early SMGs. The CIC has alot more functionality and the direct access from the keys around the controller, really makes for easy transitions from the different functions available in the system. Enjoy the car.
IB 2D 6MT in the basement
Happy to hear about the new car

I really enjoy taking the DCT out for a drive. Its just too fast that I have to be really carefull not to add any more points on my DMV account

DCT Ms are very nimble, quick and the handling is precise, especially with customized M mode ON. I have every confidence I can get out of every tight spot around the beltway if I have too.

Folks heading back to Performance Center to take advantages of this one day M driving experience that is due them for buying the car 9/1/08 to 12/31/08 heres something for great driving routes coming and going to PC
