Gas Prices
What gas prices are people seeing in their area. I know someone is going to say "if you can afford a bimmer then you shouldnt be worried about a few cents more in gas" But i thought it interesting that in an 15 mile stretch on my ride to work that the prices would be like this on premium grades.
Bowie, MD $2.77 Wheaton, MD $2.85 Rockville, MD $2.97

98 ron is AUD$1.35/litre approximately, with prices increasing almost every other day.

San Diego has very high gas prices...91 octane is $2.90-3.00 on average.
I always here that people in Europe pay a lot but they also have great public transportation. Here in So Cal. we don't. We have to drive. And in my job (real estate) I have no choice...I can't take my clients to see properties on a bus or train. I heard on the news that adjusted for inflation the 1981 price for gas would be $3.03/gallon. We've been spoiled here. Maybe now the government will think about calling SUVs "cars" instead of "trucks" and require their fuel efficiency to increase. As long as W is in the White House or any of his GOP successors I fear this will never happen.

That works out to $0.88/ litre US (Exch Rate R6.48 -sharenet.co.za) which is equal to 3.78541*0.88= $3.33/gallon US *sigh* |

Well you also have to compare the average wages for Europe as well, then compare the average prices. A friend of mine in Germany in an average job makes a little over 120K a year. So if she's making 4 times what that same job would pay in the states what is there to complain about when you only have to pay double for gas.

I live in Georgia (some of the lowest gas prices of any state I have visited) and when I started driving in 1998 gas was 86 cents per gallon. 8 dollars would fill up my Mustang at the time. Now gas goes for about 2.50 per gallon up to 2.70.

i've just stopped looking at the gas prices. it really doesn't even matter. if my car is out of gas i have to fill it up, so what's the point in complaining. even with prices where they are now, we're still damn lucky compared to europe and anywhere else on earth.

I'm paying around $2.89 a gallon.....haven't seen anything over $3.00 yet.
But according to Wall Street analysis....today's gas price hike is nothing compare to 1980. Adjusted to today's inflation.....you would be paying $3.09 for premium and a barrel of crude oil was $90 in 1980. And today...crude oil is selling for $63.75(down $2.33) a barrel. p.s. one barrel of crude oil makes 42 gallons of gasoline
