Then you probably remember George, the bartender. He was about 90 when I used to go there so he would have been like 70 back when you remember it! I think he worked there for like 40 years.

Stumptown also had Papa Hayden’s, Roses Deli (giant cakes, donuts and sandwiches) and Rimsky Korsacoffee back in the day. Pretty eclectic but always great food. Lorne & Dotties and the Cadillac Cafe were favorite breakfast spots, and there was some excellent Dim Sum in the area around Hung Far Low.

They got kicked out of china town when the real estate investors moved in and realized high rise condos with upscale shops in the ground floor fetched a much better price than dive bars. It's a bummer. The new HFL is a shell of its former self. Different staff, management, vibe. It sucks. Just another crappy Chinese restaurant. Although after many trips to China I have to say American Chinese food is ruined for me. It just plain sucks. Nothing beats the real deal.
