I'm 5'4 and 110 lbs. Lets do the percentages. A roofer is probably a male and taller and heavier than me, so 10-15 lbs is a lot less of a burden to carry around then a petite female carrying 22 lbs.

The roofer does actually carry that load for MANY hours of the day, while exposed to the elements, almost always on an incline or decline and faces almost certain death while doing it.

I'm not sure that compares with having a child on your hip for 1.5 hours a day.

No doubt kids do wonders for a new mother's shoulders, back and biceps.

Though i'm sure no roofer will trade places with you. lol

Have you ever heard exercise is good for you? Most disease and dysfunction is related to lifestyle. Good to not smoke or drink as you mentioned but physical activity is necessary to be functional into late years. Also suggested cognitive ability may be improved with aging.
