The whole mystique of it was the penetration power with FMJ ammo.

Doc, I just gotta say that looks really familiar...fifteen rounds of Winchester silvertips in 10mm with a Spartan Lasermax light laser combo and some upgrades from TMT.

Would love to get some federal guard dog home defense rounds for it but they don't make them in 10 mm.

You can still find the FMJ but way more often you find vendors at gun shows or even brick and mortar stores who have dipped the tips in blue paint. But FN brass is head stamped differently so it's easy to spot if you know what to look for.

I like that with 20 rounds it is lighter than my Glock 19. I also actually really like the safety location.

I tend to not want my handgun to over penetrate. If I am looking for penetration I have a few mags of green tips I can throw into my AR.

(insert penis joke here)

OK Guys... I have a good one here. I get a lot of "never heard of it" when I ask the question, but has anyone had any personal experience with the Arex Rex Zero 1? From everything i have seen, its a pretty awesome gun that is (for the most part) a copy of the Sig226 at 1/3rd the price, and from some of the videos that i have seen, it out performs it in torture tests (before any Sig fans crucify me, im a pretty big Sig fan myself). Not to mention their flat dark earth has a beautiful bronze tint to it that looks absolutely beautiful! I will leave a link to the torture test that im talking about.. One of the videos is of the same guy putting 1000 rounds through it as fast as he can, and not a single malfunction. Let me know what you guys think.

There is guy who works at a LGS who used his Wilson Combat 1911 in self defense where he too was shot and wounded. The WC was covered in blood and then confiscated for about 14 months. In that time it was put into a plastic bag and not opened for the duration. The WC was ruined beyond repair. Lucky for him, he recovered from his wound and his pals at the LGS pitched in and bought him SW 1911.

He now carries and uses a polymer pistol for home defense.
You on OTD??? I read the story about the dixie incident.

Those internal striker pistols without safeties though I'm not a fan of.
striker fired pistols actually have 3 internal safeties. no real need for an external one unless youre a buffoon.

Anyone here have any long range precision rifles? Pics? I'm wanting to do either a .338LM or .50BMG bolt action for my next build. Sucks being a lefty though because options are very limited if I want a left hand bolt action.

I'd like to but not much opportunity right now to shoot the distance I'd like. Put together a precision ar of sorts with 20 inch bcm upper. It's better than I am for sure. Just 5.56 though so limited some.

I had my hands on a 6.5 precision rifle, I want it, but there is NOWHERE for me to play with it that is even remotely close here in the Bay Area.

I have ARs that I can't really stretch out, and a 300 win mag that I really can't challenge.

I've always liked LR precision rifles, so any pics would be cool.

I don't have anywhere close to shoot long distance though - farthest I have is about 200 yards. But I'd love to have a rig that was set up for precision.

I just have a mediocre entry level rifle in the long range game, Remington 700 action with a 5R barrel, (supposedly upgraded stock too) with a Vortex scope.

If I really wanted to get into the game, I'd need a better scope, upgrades to the stock and trigger.

So far I've only shot out to 200 yards as well. There are a couple of ranges in the area that go out to 1000, so I'm hoping to make at least one trip out there this summer.

I converted my carbine AR to a precision gun, but it's chambered in 5.56, has the old carbine barrel, and only a 3x zoom scope so we'll see how well it does.

I have higher hopes for my Rem700 in .308.
H&S Precision Sendero stock
Millett TRS-1 4-16x50 scope
LaRue 20 MOA rail
LaRue rings
LaRue cheek pad
Battle Arms Development bottom metal
Timney trigger
KRG bolt lift
SilencerCO ASR muzzle brake
Harris bipod

I think this will be my next build. MPA 338BA

The 338 looks killer if you build something like that. But really only good for shooting at those 1000 yard ranges given the price of ammo!

Have you looked at precisely how many dollar bills you'll be sending down range everytime you press the trigger?

I otherwise love the idea of a .338

.338 for long rang fun is what I'd do. Lots of outdoor places in FL. I'm personally contemplating a 7.62 nato as my next rifle. Musing between m1a and ar-10, leaning m1a.
