F1 2024: Dutch GP - Zandvoort (Aug 25)

Slowly starting to get really excited for this race! For me it's totally unclear how the dice will role after the summerbrake. So no predictions what so ever. Could be anyone driving a McLaren, Mercedes or Red Bull. Mayby even Ferarri can get in the mix.

It's FP1 gone and as expected it's MAX vs LAN with PER having a lot to do before FP2 in about an hour.
MAX was saying that he would have had a good chance to win at Spa if it wasn't for the 10 grid penalty (from pole) for his fifth new engine there, going back to having his Montreal engine sidelined with a fault which is still not known what it was. As such it raises my hopes for him at his 'home' race to which he has a clean record of winning.

Time will tell, he currently stands 7th in the points in his F2 championship and can't wait to get that FP ride in Hamilton's car at Monza.

It looks like both team MERC and McLaren are very very strong on Zandvoort.
Of course this is FP, but still...
I don't think RB has brought any significant upgrades.

RUS and PIA are already almost on the pole time of last year, so they've probably gained 1,5sec or so on last year. Tomorrow will tell

Man, it's crazy how a few upgrades made Lando and Oscar better drivers than Max. Clearly they have matured in their role.

All the RB20 upgrades have been removed (!)
The RB20 is not going to improve any further in this season .

Pierre Waché : We reached the limit with the RB20 and we need a complete new car for the 2025 season.

Hopefully MAX can minimize the cars performance disadvantage with the MAX-Factor .
I think the situation at Red Bull looks very bad ...

The Redbull is roughly even with the McLaren and Mercedes. Instead of having a rocketship from last season where even Checo who is barely average can gap the grid, they actually have to race.

It's crazy that taking away the car advantage made Max less than mortal.

Apparently former main sponsor Uralkali has legally seized all cars and equipment of the Haas racing team in the Netherlands.
So apparently the cars etc can't leave the country after the race.
Uralkali is the company of Mazepin's dad...
Apparently a swiss court judged last june that Haas had to pay back about €9million in sponsorship money.

I wonder what will actually happen monday...

It sucks so much that Max won 10 races this season? And now that cars are less than a 2tenths apart he struggles.

:Yawn: Max won 7 races by like 10 seconds, and as soon as the field narrows to tenths he struggles. Checo suddenly starts doing poorly when the competition catches up and we blame him for being slow - he always was, and just had a HUGE car advantage.

Looking forward to Lando winning it this year being mediocre.
