Eddie Jordan accuses FIA of deliberate red flag action against Max Verstappen:
– Former F1 team boss Eddie Jordan has accused ex-FIA race director Niels Wittich of intentionally timing a red flag to disadvantage Max Verstappen during the Brazilian Grand Prix qualifying session. – The session, moved to Sunday morning due to heavy rain, saw Verstappen eliminated early, a setback he overcame spectacularly to win the rain-affected race by 19.5 seconds. This victory extended his championship lead over Lando Norris to 62 points, putting Verstappen on the verge of a fourth consecutive title. – On the Formula For Success podcast, Jordan claimed the red flag decisions were deliberate, clashing with co-host David Coulthard. “Are you telling me that Max was dealt a fair deal? Was he dealt a fair deal when the red flag came out six cars, seven cars later?” Jordan questioned. “Come on, David, don’t be stupid. You know the gods are in Lando’s hands. They want Lando to win this Championship. But he’s not going to, because Max has outfoxed him.” – Coulthard attempted to dismiss the suggestion, attributing outcomes to “the luck of the racing gods,” but Jordan persisted: “The red flag was wrong! It was a mistake! He f***** up, didn’t he!” – Despite starting from P17 after a grid penalty for a new ICE, Verstappen’s dominant drive at Interlagos further solidified his championship credentials. https://www.planetf1.com/news/eddie-...max-verstappen |
