Don't put the spider in the microwave for more than about 5 seconds, you don't want to have to clean THAT up!!!

I would recommend brief, repeated exposures to kryptonite before allowing it to bite you. Repeated exposure until it can escape the jar with its laser eyes would be a good measuring stick of the timeframe required before introducing the fangs.
