oh my goodness... i used the P&S Iron remover...

By far the worst smelling solution I've ever dealt with when working w/ a car.

Wash your P&S and it won't smell so bad

Being that I bought the car used, the previous owner did a number on the rear windshield getting snow and ice off during the winter months...

I grabbed my polisher and picked up some Glass polishing solution & pads via amazon.

https://www.amazon.ca/Glass-Polishin...wdgt_d_title_2

The outcome wasn't that great tbh. I did three passes following the instructions at 2000 rpm. I then bumped up the rpm by 500 so I don't get any burning. I think it made a small impression on the damage, but the damage is so extensive, it will take a lot of work to restore it to a half decent condition. I have no expectation it will become clear, but I'd like to get somewhere close.

I'm reading some articles and watching youtube tutorials... people say it takes 20-30 minutes per quartered section of glazing with heavy force, low rpm and patience.

Interesting to give it a second try!

Enjoying seeing the progress on your E91, even if it's just routine/maintenance work. I would suggest IronX reduced scent for your next Iron Remover, it's not much better though LOL.

Clear Bra Removal

I couldn't complete the front clip with the clear bra on so it was time for that guy to go!
I used a smaller, household steamer that held about a 1.5L of distilled water.

Before with Clear Bra pitting and damage

The removal process started well with little glue residue. The installer damaged the paint with his knife...

Some of the deeper damage went straight through this film

Difference between protected, and unprotected paint.

I increased the pace of the removal as I continued. I think I was getting impatient and worried that I would run out of distilled water. The result was a lot of leftover glue residue. I will need to clean it all up with Goo Gone.

PPF Adhesive removal

Another weekend with more scrubbing and manual labor.

I got some Goo Gone as per youtube:Ammo NYC's suggestion/instruction and saturated the areas where adhesive was still stuck to the paint. It was a lot of work trying to remove the residue with a microfiber towel, so I ended up soaking a towel w/ the solution and using it as a liquid lubricant.

Much like spray and claybar, and used my plastic razor scraper to lift the rest of the glue off while the Goo Gone sat on the surface of the paint. The first way of doing it would have taken hours... the 2nd way of doing it took 15 minutes haha.

Prepped the hatch glazing again for more Polish, and the rear quarter for the first attempt at paint correction.

Oh my goodness....
I am so very surprised and happy that I went down this route.... again! haha

I picked up another Glass Polishing solution called CeriGlass and tried to do the rear windshield again. It took about an hour to get it to the condition that it is now. It's not perfect but I am very, very happy.

Tools > DA Polisher, Glass Pads & Polish

The Polish dries up quickly and a couple of spritz of water will bring it back to life. It does mean however the solution gets really liquid and it flings all over the place.

So here is a photo of the finished result. There are still some deep scratches, but that's a battle for another day. I can finally see out of the rear windshield during night driving!!!!!

And here is a before & after comparison. The difference is astonishing.

Just taking a small break from the detailing to pick up a set of Michellin Pilot Sport 4s summer tires. I'm super excited to get these mounted!

I have used touch up paint on scratches like that.
I sand the chip/small surround area with 1200 grit, apply the touch up paint, let it dry, sand it flat and buff/polish.
It is not perfect, but the scratches are a lot less noticeable.
Rear window looks great btw.

The summer has been really, really busy.

I went on vacation - Hawaii, and then lost my job right after I got back. The office closed.
Lots of stuff has happened to Leonia over the months.

Probably the biggest visual upgrade is a set of these:

I guess I stopped detailing the car to take care of more important things this summer.
I'll find time to resume my efforts later on. =D

One of thing items that needed a lot of attention was the blower motor. The bearing was making a lot of noise and a new unit was ordered. Replacing this item of the car was quick and easy, with minimal effort.

New vs. Old

Replacement OEM units do not come with the chipset, so I needed to remove the old chip and install it in its new home
