growing up with no money as a lil kid i was really never into cars. but as my parents started to make some money they bought a 95 525i (silver) i thought it was one of the most nicest cars around lol. i figured coming up from nothing and making enough money to own a car like a BMW was the shit. ever since then me and my brother have mad love for BMWs. my brother owns a 02 330ci (200k miles) and still has it plus he bought his wife a x5 and i own the infamous e92. just the feel you get of driving a BMW is priceless.

E46 ///M3. Way before I could even drive I was drooling over it. The E92 just sealed the deal.

The "Ultimate Driving Machine" slogan which draws me to buy my 1st BMW in 1989 and my 2008 135 now. The BMW 2002 tti and 3.0 CSL are my dream cars too.

my dad was a poooor man growing up, and when he came to america, finished his residency for his M.D., a friend of his told him to reward himself by buying a new bmw. he picked up a 95 325 and had to have my mom drive it home, he was that scared. but in time he grew to love them, and wanted my bro and i to have his first bmw. now he has a couple of bmw's ('10 m3 and '09 535xi) and gave us his older 04 325. as a grad present he bought us a 335i. gotta love him to death.

My wx-wife's dad had an 850i and it was the most awesome car ever! It was brand new, and he let me drive it! I was hooked right then.

Better than the E39 M5?
I went shopping for a slightly used Yukon Denali or 4Runner and ended up getting a great deal on a really low mileage E36 M3/4/5. I saw it on the lot and told myself I'd like to take it for a spin. I've been kinda hooked ever since. After that, I got myself an E21 and an E30, did tons of tinkering and modding. I boycotted the E46 because it felt too fat to me, and stayed away from the E90 at first because it's ugly as sin, but once the N54 came out, it caught my attention. I actually wanted a 135i, but it was easier to convince the wife of the practicality of the 4 door 335. Only things I don't like are the looks (can mostly be fixed), the weight, and the constant pain of having something fail. It drives great, but the failure of BMW to address the very valid concerns of its consumers may have made this my last BMW. I do plan on retiring it to "toy" status when the warranty is up, but it would take a helluva lot of convincing for me to trust BMW again. |

In the 80’s an old guy, Borbely was his name, was racing an old blue BMW 2002 Schnitzer ? in my home town. And my father was telling me how great those cars are.
And 25 years later I bought my first BMW. |

Started for me about 12 years ago. Shortly after I passed my driving test i used to drive past a 635CSi everyday when going to work, it was sat outside a garage, in some long grass - it needed alot of TLC. At first It just drew my attention as a good looking car, I didn't really know that much about BMW. Over time the more I saw that car the more I liked it, I got intrigued and read up on the brand a bit to find out more about the car. One of the things I learned - was at 18, the car would have cost me £3500 per year to insure.. so years past, eventually that car was restored, and presumably sold as one day it just disappeared. By that time I was quite into the whole BMW thing, but didn't buy my first till I was 21, it was a black E28 528i dressed up to look like an E28 M535i. I had it for about 2 years when a local farmer asked if I was in to BMW's... I said yes, he said he had an old one in his barn, it was his dead brothers and he'd hung onto it for sentimental reasons, I had a look and bought it for £1500, it was in fairly good condition (except the wings) - it was a sapphire blue 635CSi. So after about 5 years of wanting one I finally got an E24 635CSi. Alas she was stolen from me only last year but during that time I'd also had a couple of other BMW's as daily drivers. These days I am a self proffesed BMW-fan-boy-nut-job, I'm still trying to fly the flag for the older cars.. but at the moment the E28 520 I'm driving at the moment is a nail... bought for not alot off eBay as a temporary solution until it's MOT expires, then I'll run my E34 525i until that dies, by which time, I should gotten enough money together for something a little classier.. ... something from Buchloe, with stripes, hopefully
I like the JOY campaign because it reminds me of the first time I drove that 528i and, the first time I slipped behind the wheel of my 6. My old 6, before she was taken: and with the banger I'm in at the moment: Last edited by Matski; 02-26-2010 at 03:52 PM.. |

Three things:
1) In 2000, I test drove a 330Ci and a Z3 3.0. Loved them both, as they felt very precise. Couldn't afford the price... 2) In 2003, my wife's boss had a "broken down" car in his parking lot that his nephew had wrecked-my son needed a car. We looked at the car and it was a 1985 735i. The boss thought it had suspension problems, turned out it had the wrong size tire on the right front. Put four new tires on the car and it drove like a dream! Every bit as good as my 7 year old GMC truck. 3) In 2003, bought a new Cooper S...what a sweet little car! Sold on BMW technology. When the 135i was introduced, I ordered and put a down payment on the first ones on the way, without ever even driving one...came in the week after the first customer car hit our shores and I've been loving it ever since! |

Back in 2007 as part of a work assignment, I got to drive (and demo to other people) a Hydrogen 7 for six weeks. During that time I worked with some BMW engineers and technicians nearly every day and learned a lot about that vehicle and BMW in general.
