Oh, cool. Comparing a 5k pound large sedan with an aftermarket tune to an actual sports car. Sure, makes sense.

You mean comparing the M8GC which weighs 1300lbs more and is faster isn't a fair comparison all because AWD?

Power to weight is real and the #a don't lie.

According to GM the Z06 running a 10.6 with a 2.7 0-60 means it's likely struggling on the back half and based on the time and weight roughly at 3500lbs puts only about 580 at the wheel which is about 15% parasitic loss.

I'm just saying the math doesn't lie and if I were a Corvette lover the current C8 Z51 pack running a 10.9-11.1 is just fine and not making much less power compared to the Z06.

Add some FI and winner winner.

Dude.... the M8GC runs a 10.7 factory all day long..... at 1300lbs heavier. And a racechip only adds about 70-90whp.... which being fatter than the C8 based on the #s shouldn't be able to be quicker.

You just proved my point on how the Z06 IS NOT a "sports car". It's fantastic marketing.

Haha. Compare lap times. Not everything is a straight road. And a stupid Tesla is faster than either, in a straight line. But people don't buy sports cars for that.

And again, why a big boat like the M8? Compare that to a similar yacht like a Conti GT, not sports cars.

A tuned G8x is likely still quicker than a Z06, and would have a much better chance of at least getting closer in lap times. But it still won't be nearly as quick on most tracks. The Z06 is built for those and just showing up at any track will have shown you what the C7Z was capable of, even if it wouldn't have won a drag race with many of the cars it lapped quicker than. I don't see anything that points to the C8Z not continuing that.

I didn't know a sports car's only goal is drag racing/ quarter mile times.... actually I think it's the opposite, that's more muscle car territory.....

I'll never understand the us obsession with 0-60 and quarter mile times.

That's a very generic statement, i wouldn't define a quicker Rolls Phantom as more fun than say, the slow af MX-5, 'fun' is defined differently obviously for everyone
disclaimer: bad comparison i am fully aware, but so is the above generic statement with zero context

Let me explain it to you. If you compare the otherwise identical car model in two trims, one slow and one fast, the faster trim will be more fun and engaging to drive. Does it make sense now?

But the Z06 is faster than said BMW AWD launch master, as soon as you add a corner anyways.

Your whole definition of fast depends on grip at launch.

Any engineers or tuners in here ?

with the z06 running a very high compression ratio of 12.5:1 will people be able to make any more NA power out of the thing ? seems like forced induction would be the only way to go if you're a drag racer.

If gm got a published 10.6. .. it's more like 10.8-11. Advertised #s for American cars are always overzealous. Only American performance vehicle I've drove that exceeded FCA specs was my TRX when stock. Rated at a 12.7 1/4, we were getting 12.3-12.4s all day..... it's now corn fed running 9s.

Fastest curve I have tested the m8gc in was doing 137 and it was a non banked curve and felt incredibly controlled and planted. Hairpin turn is done weekly sending it into my neighborhood at 40-50mph... along as the gates already open. Lol....

That's an incredibly ridiculous broad brush to be painting with.

If the best part of 700hp isn't enough, you're chasing numbers not performance. Jesus 460hp heavy as hell Mustang GT got me to illegal speeds by brushing the throttle, let alone this thing.

I like to be proved wrong. Just most American companies are in the game of marketing their "horsepower" figures rather than actually backing them.

yeah i'm hoping its not like the dodge demon where they claimed it ran a 9.5 and was the fastest thing ever to sell more cars... then mags were getting like 10.5-11 on drag strips and 12.0 on regular pavement.

Really?! Wow.

To his point though the 6.4l motor from FCA in their HD trucks and SRT/Scat Packs can't handle being boosted.
