Do it, they're fun to shoot. Ammo is typically cheaper that .223/5.56, but not great for distance. Great home defense guns though.

Thanks! The issue with the 5.7 upper is the optic rail sits higher than a normal AR so normal AR optics sit too high for a normal cheek weld. The small optic isn't a problem either and it sits at the proper height-over-bore.

The main problem I had with mine was the weight. That upper was heavy! Otherwise it was a very soft-shooting rifle and very unique. And there's very little real estate on top for mounting an optic. The Aimpoint was a little too big and got in the way of the BUIS.

Also, the ammo can be hard to find...

This was mine: (I traded the upper for some Cerakote work on other guns)

I've been buying 5.7x28 from PSA whenever it goes on sale. I think I paid 12.99/box for American Eagle FMJ, and 14.99/box for FNH blue tip on Black Friday. Free shipping too... bought a ton :

Would you tell me, whats the part called after the aimpoint and the flipped front sight?

Ah, I understand. Ok, I know the problem at the M4, if the additional rail after the delta ring is too far for optics mount and the upper receiver rail is too close.
First intention was mounting a mid riser adapter to bridge the gap between the rails but that was not the right solution.
So I ended up with a Doctor Sight at an additionally twin-rail-dovetail adapter onto the NC

Thats a hell of a price on FNH ammo! I can't support PSA anymore though. After working in a gun store and having to deal with their incompetency and extremely poor customer service I just refuse to support them.

I use www.ammoseek.com to get my ammo. I try to support local businesses as much as I can, but it's too hard to get good deals on ammo at a B&M. Even gun shows can't beat online prices unfortunately.

That would be the magazine. The AR57 upper uses PS90 mags and ejects the shells downward through the traditional AR magwell.

If I could find 5.7 that cheap I would actually contemplate adding a Five Seven to my collection...

Happy to report about my P320 compact RX1 red dot. Two trips to the range and feeding it 600rds of Winchester 124 Nato everything went very well. Not a singe hiccup. Well, almost....the last magazine i lost the red dot/stopped working. However, i quickly discovered the battery cover had come loose. No big deal. This is my first red dot, and its another world when it comes to aiming and shooting. You get to see the whole world with both eyes open, and how much you dont see, when you shoot with one eye shut. In the beginning i forgot and was shooting with one eye shut. I had a hard time getting to my target. However with both eyes i was grouping like a mad man. Follow up shots where waaaay quicker. Ridiculous fast..........hence the 600rds i spend in no time. I gotta quickly stop the itch of getting red dots on all of my firearms now, that would cost me dearly

Cheers!!!

Target acquisition with red dot and eyes wide open is so fast. You don't really aim. You point and shoot.

600 rds? Sounds like a successful day

You or it?

Cause either way, neither qualifies till they get shot 7 times with a DE and can still function.

That was a good movie though.

ha ha - you have me thinking about that movie again. So many good quotes / funny crap.

That hallway scene (actually, starting at the lead in at the pub) with bullet tooth Tony and Boris was one of the best scenes, though hard to choose since there were so many.

Thanks for the flashback. I may have to watch that movie again in the near future.
