And now for something completely different.
I have alluded to my appreciation of Okinawan folk music before but hesitated to post an example. This tune, Haisai Oji-san, was a big hit in the early 1970s when I bought the 45 rpm record and apparently remains so today. I think it is also a bit more accessible to the Western ear. Give it a listen... The instrumentation is a shamisen (plucked strings), drums and an electric bass. The background singers are of course dressed in kimonos. Great stuff! Grrr... the original version won't load; here's a more modern version...

Speaking of something w an 'ethnic' vibe (at least from an Euro-centric pov), for the longest time I always thought that the chanting in this beautiful song was from some native here in North America, but turns out it was some natives from Taiwan, and apparently the group tried to appropriate them w/o giving their due. Anyway...

The chanting sounds native American to me, too; but I have no idea of the Taiwan aboriginal language.

Speaking of ethnic music, Ch'er, Louisiana has some of the best. I was almost exclusively a rock and roll listener until the mid-1980s, when I lived in the Washington DC suburbs and discovered WAMU radio, a public station that mostly did news but on the weekends let loose with American roots music (country, Cajun, vintage Hawaiian, klezmer, etc, etc.) and my musical horizons suddenly expanded.
In particular I fell in love with Cajun music. One of my favorite performers was D. L. Menard; We've lost this national treasure now. This is "la porte d'en arriere" (The Back Door) EDIT: Upon review, I decided to replace this rough live version with the original recording -- see below.
