I am starting to think it might be a different type of arthritis, but treatment for autoimmune are all similar/same. Currently taking under clinical strength level of meds. I guess my physician want to be safe.
Last month, I had hard time walking. This month, I have hard time driving 6MT cars.

If increase dosage after next visit doesn't work, I guess I will get on Humira (adalimumab) or , Enbrel (etanercept) ,or Remicade (Infliximab) It costs arms and legs for this biologic/Biotech prods. Trying my best not to take TNF blockers or TNF-alpha receptor (TNF inhibitors).

At least I am glad that it isn't Lupus.

Yeah, I saw that golfer. He was really struggling.

Where abouts is your pain? I ask because about 4 years backi couldn't drive for more than 15 mins before I had to stop because of the pain in my knees. Knee specialist wanted to do some surgery but my GP advised me to try a physio first. Physio said knee specialist was talking bollocks. Four years pain free so I have to go with physio's diagnosis. Don't get me wrong, I still have a knee problem but it's not affecting me..... yet.

Joint gets really big and inflammated. When inflammation and joint swelling stops, I gotta do PT to rejuvenate my joint again.

Physicians would not know what is causing joint pain, until they diagnose it with blood test, xray, and/or Magnetic resonance imaging. Before the test result, they can just hypothesize what it is with their knowledge.

Did physician conducted the test for your knee pain?

Yeah, so I had x-ray first to check alignment of patella running within the femur during flexion and extension. That was fine. Then MRI scan on the knee which showed that the Articular cartilage on the back of my patella was 50% worn away and instead of being glass smooth it was now rough which causes the grinding noises in my knees when, for example, walking up stairs. It's basically wear and tear but the medical term for this is osteoarthritis apparently.

Physio said the wear and tear I have is normal for somebody of my age that is doing the physical activities that I do. He then went on to explain about the central nervous system being like a rubber band starting at the base of the brain and running continuously around your entire body. Demonstrated how this band was tighter on one side of my body, probably caused by sitting in an office or car seat most of the day, and showed me that I had restricted movement through one side of my body for example I could turn my head to the left so my chin is over my shoulder but not nearly the same when turning to the right. He then did some stretching out and cracked my spine out. Had about 3 one hour sessions with him, gave me some exercises to do at home and it's all been good since.

Sorry for the epic post.

Out of ~60 known family members , my mom's aunt has it.
most likely acquired from thinking I am still 17-25 years old and play sports aggressively. I did acquire lots of small injuries, but those injuries did not do anything to cause joint inflammation for years.

However, after moving to CO made it really bad. I think it is from extreme change in weather and unstable barometric pressure might be a factor.
Medically speaking, those factors are not as significant, but I just need to live in other places for few months just to be certain.

Oh, no cortisone or corticosteroids. Just dmards (below clinical strength) and nsaids.

Oh man. Ive heard that OA is really painful.
For OA and cartilage degeneration, physicians will most likely recommend pt, chiropractic, wear suitable shoes, ergonomic chairs, etc for MINOR OA.

As for major, replacement is way to go.
I am already thinking about replacement surgeries when I reach 45+.
Some of the non-athletic guys are ones who are very healthy at age 45+ due to no accumulated injuries and wear&tear.

MrPrena - man...I can relate, I have lived a hard life physically. I mean HARD...I believed I was invincible, then one day things just started hurting....then things began to break!

2 full thickness rotator cuff repairs
2 back surgeries (L4/L5)
Every finger in my right hand has been broken
Broke Nose
Right knee scoped for cartilage removal
Left Ankle broken and dislocated so bad was put to sleep and had it set.
Right shoulder will dislocate and I'll set it myself This is a great trick!
I have a neuroma in toes on both feet...this led to what I can only describe as a M&M size spur in the joint where the toe becomes part of the foot...
Arthritis in both feet so bad, a x-ray is just one large white spot...

You know the stuff well. I didn't do ice swimming, but I did put my hands or ankle inside the ice bucket. It does help. It does reduces inflammation a lot. As for bigger joints, I just take cold shower for 15minutes.

Last year was a great year, but this years' severe weather is killing me!

I was suppose to go into physical therapy while my kid is in school this summer. I might have to postpone it for a week until swelling goes down.

(Thanks for listening to my SOB stories. )

Haha, I was so like you two, until my last bigger trauma.

After my dad died, I did a lot of lumber work in our forests. Mainly for the exercise and to be outside, but also to be spent for the family gatherings.

I completely overestimated my hold, and my foots position, I dropped a log on my foot. It wasn't even painful at first, I almost walked (a stick held me up, and the same stick operated the clutch on the way home) away from the forest, but it took two years almost to walk without a limp. It was looked at by the best professionals and the kind verdict was to let it be, and it might heal, operate and youre out for months, and it might not even help.

Last Friday, I went skating for real for the first time in over two years. The leg is now blue and black but it was a relief to even to try.

Let's face it guys, we are waiting for the worms now. The youth is gone.

Oh damn.

I just had bunch of minor injuries and few surgeries, but it still did not bother me to play sports. However, intro to arthritis changed everything.

I used that "Mind over body" thing way too much to be competitive, but I realized the long term wear on almost all my joints were not put in to the factor.

With that said, I really need to hit the gym for PT to recover my joint I've damaged for past 50ish days.
