As Long as the Proper Maintenance is carried out the engine should last north of 100,000kms.

What makes you think the CSL engine will blow up with age (well that depends on how much abuse it takes during that time too LOL).

Why would it? Tons of other s54s running around without degrading?

Used BMWs I've driven felt like they were dying. Where I'm from people don't give a crap about maintenance and they abuse the cars though. Hard to find a car that old under 100,000kms. Only spotted one CSL since it was released and it didn't have local plates.

You can't tell if they're maintained or not. I'd like to buy a CSL from abroad but I'd be concerned about the car's state.

Thanks for the quick answer lol. I was just wondering

I am from Bahrain. We have excellent maintained CSL's here and a lot of Excellent condition M3's. CSL will cost you around BD 30,000 nowadays for a mint one from outside Bahrain, as the ones over here are not for sale as far as I know.

Really? Where the hell are they 0_0. I've seen heaps of E46s but CSLs are rare(only seen 1). Yeah 30k is plenty (I'd rather go for the M2 if I could spare that). Do you work for EM?

Ok let's say, theoretically I ship 20 car's over to europe, what kind of export taxes do I have to expect?
How does the taxes get calculated?
On each car or approx. depending on the shipping car- scope?
Just curious..

No worries, It's 5% import tax in Bahrain and No Salvage title vehicles can enter the country. Plus the market you really want to target is UAE (salvage title vehicles OK), QATAR, KSA and KUWAIT.

Don't know about Europe, but if you're from the USA, we have a free trade agreement between them and Bahrain so no taxes or fees or anything when you ship cars here (from the US). Not sure about the UAE. I think there's a free trade agreement there too.

I'll keep an eye on owner reviews (as usual). Skeptical of the steering. Otherwise, should be a lovely car. Can't afford it for now anyway -.-

Incorrect brother. The FTA only applies to Vehicles or items MADE in the USA. So if he is importing a vehicle from the USA which was made for example in Japan or italy or Germany, Taxes of 5% Will apply.

Seriously? None of the stuff I import is made in the USA and I get off. Although I never brought a car from there so maybe they rob people when it comes to that. I was certain the FTA applies to anything leaving the US.

If that's the case, damn you BMW for making your new factories in Mexico. Move it up a bit -.-

Yes 110% serious! You, I, We are getting away with it not because its not being noticed or people are not applying the FTA correctly or the Customs officer is lazy etc etc.....NO.

We are getting away with it because the things you buy are usually for personal use or are lower than say BD 250 / $658 so they let it through without any duties or overlook the manufacturing country etc.....

Cars are a bigger item so they not going to make any mistakes there....Trust me.

On the contrary, If you take care of your car (any car for that matter ) as time and mileage moves on, car loosens up even more. My CSL performs better each day. It is not super quick compared to today's cars but quick enough and more importantly super fun for me.
