Just hate standing in line and crowds, hence the guide service. Its not for everyone but if you have the means it is worth it.
We are not haters, some of us just don't want our children thinking this is normal and to be expected all the time. I'm all for spending money on making lifetime memories, but kids need to learn that just because their parents are wealthy, that it isn't always about being entitled and treated like royalty, even at Disney.

My wife and I enjoyed traveling before we had kids. It was one thing we said we wanted to do when we had a family. We've taken them on many cruises, to many cities along the East coast of the USofA, and when my twins were six, we took them to London. I could have flown first class on points, but instead we flew coach. I didn't want my kids to be spoiled at such a young age. I do want them to experience traveling and adventure, but there has to be a limit, even if it means my wife and I have to sacrifice some of the amenities that we enjoy. There is no way I'm spending $600/hr for a VIP escort through Disney. For that price I'd get a different kind of escort.

I'm also sure that my kids have just as good memories, or even better than the $600/hr private tour. For example, my daughter loves Snow White. We would wait on line for the meet and greet and I'd take a ton of pictures. She was in bliss. One day though just as were next in line to greet Snow White, they said no more as she has to go on the parade. My daughter was so upset, and the handlers saw this. So what did they do? As everyone was standing behind the tape lines on both sides of main street, Snow White walked down the middle of the road holding her hand. We were center stage and my daughter had the biggest smile on her face. Well, we now learned a really good trick. Every time we went to Disney after that, we would get on the meet and greet line at a point when we knew they would shut it down and offer to take my daughter on the walk down Main St. We did this three times and I finally said to my wife; this isn't fair to other people. We live two hours away and some people save for a long time to come to Disney once in their life. My daughter was upset when she didn't get to walk with Snow White, but we explained to her that there are other children who may only get a chance to come to Disney once in their life, and that we are fortunate to live so close and come twice a month.

I'm glad that the people here have the ability to make lasting memories with their family. At the end that is all that matters.

-Cheers.
Wait, you go to Disney twice a month? Yeah, I would not do the guide then either. Not really a fair comparison. But if you are like many who go maybe every few years, its a completely different story. Your anecdotal story about Snow White is neat. So is riding Space Mountain 5 times in 30 minutes. I wont touch the parenting and privilege comment, thats a whole different discussion.

I guess that does make a big difference. We would sometimes just drive up for the day and do different things with no time constraint. However before covid and all of new ride rules, I guess we wouldn't have as much of a success. We would book four different rides on the fastpass at a time for each of us. For example, I would book four different rides for each of us, that gave us sixteen rides or greetings. My son wouldn't want to see the princess, and my daughter didn't like the race cars as much. I would go to a ride and when I scanned mine and obviously my son didn't have a fastpass time. I'd tell my son that mommy probably forgot to add him to the fastpass in front of the worker. Of course they would then let my son join me on the ride. So that's how we got to do a lot every time.

I like the way you think though.

Good day sir!

However long it takes, it's always cheaper to rent than it is to own. I'm on my second ownership now so obviously I didn't take that advice.

*I just can't understand why some of you think Disney is so expensive...

But since we're talking Disney (and cruises have been brought up), check this out - Disney is offering a $5,000 cocktail aboard their Disney cruise ship:

Apparently you have to solve/unlock some mystery problems to even get to the drink after you've paid the $5k.

Rich people sure are weird...

I certainly won't say they are cheap, although I have definitely done cheap Disney trips in the past. But frankly the daily average cost I pay for a Disney trip for our family is pretty much inline with the average cost of our Europe or even Hawaii trips.

Bottom line is that as long as you and your family enjoy it, screw what anyone else has to say

The really funny thing to me is that this forum should be a place that understands spending more for something special.

Doing Disney over something else very much aligns in my mind to people choosing to own a BWM instead of a Toyota.

Except some of us feel Disney charges BMW prices but gives you a Toyota level product.

I mean if people enjoy it (and apparently a LOT of people do) go for it. I don't personally care if someone spends $10k or $100k on their Disney trip, not my $$ not my business. At least in my case I'm simply offering my opinion on Disney. The same way I don't own a BMW anymore because I don't find their current products compelling for me.

Agree completely and the funny thing is I ended up replacing my BMW with a kind of Toyota

I wouldn't spend any of my money on woke, over priced Disney but then again my kids are grown up. I would consider Universal Studio which has Marvel and Harry Potter.

My wife and I went to Universal before we had kids and loved it. It wasn't crowded, the rides were great, and I felt the themes were really well done.

Have you thought about doing Disneyland Paris? No idea how the costs compare, but we did 3 days in the Disney park and then 4 days in Paris. Our daughter was a similar age and wanted to walk up the Eiffel Tower, which we did. It was a trip where we all got something out of it and was thoroughly enjoyed by all.

How were the crowds and how did it compare to Disney World? I'd be open to it...

Crowds were fine, but I guess time of year and public holidays will have an impact. It is smaller than Disney World, but we found it perfectly fine for a 7 year old (she is 21 now), as she was most interested in seeing the Disney characters, the Princesses in particular, and the castle etc. We did enough rides to make it worth it, but 3 days was enough. The food in the park and hotel were not great, and overpriced, as you would expect, so after day 1 we just caught the train down one station to a massive shopping mall, and there were some great non-Disney influenced restaurants there for dinner. We left on the morning of day 4 and caught the RER into Paris and had a few nights in a nice hotel just off the Champs-Elysees, which was close to good restaurants and we used the Metro to get to the sights and walked a bit too. I can highly recommend the dual venue approach.

As a kid we went to both Disney and Universal several times. I preferred the universal rides at the time MUCH more. Maybe because they were more relevant to me being based on movies. Also at least at that time it was a lot of none rollercoaster rides. I don't care for rollercoasters or anything of that stuff.

In fact all of the rides that I think back on as being my favorite were all Universal. Back to the future, king kong, twister, jaws, earthquake. Shit, I might have to go back to Universal some day. I wonder if it's the same cluster fuck as Disney.

Disney's cancel culture and woke liberal position is exactly why I don't spend my money there anymore. And because I live in Florida, their position on the education that my kids receive is none of their business. If they have no issue running a theme park in China with all of the atrocities that the dictator commits against the people of China, then I see no reason to support their company.
