So, she's reading it to you? You liked all the pretty pictures, but just couldn't string them all together into a story yourself???

I haven't read a good book in a really long time I don't know what happened, I've been so disappointed with anything new from my usual go to authors - James Patterson, Michael Connelly, David Balducci, Nelson DeMille, Lee Child to name a few. I either can't get through them, or read just to read with no interest at all. One of my all time favorites, Vince Flynn, died a few years back and the writer that picked up where he left off just doesn't have it.

I really enjoy Greg Iles. Every one of his books has been a great read. He goes years in between books. I don't know how I missed this one. It's a stand alone. I also see that he is working on the next in the Penn Cage series. I pre-ordered it.

Wish me luck, I need books for poolside. I hope this one breaks the pattern.

It has been a little disappointing to go into B&N lately. I'm reaching back into some of the old classics like Stephen King and Isaac Asimov, the greats of their respective genre. I've found a few Clive Cussler and David Baldacci that I'm not sure I've read before or not - memory is the second thing to go.

My son gifted me a hardback copy of The Silmarillion via Prime Day, but even that I can't remember if I read it or not.

We are remodeling our master bath, and the wife made me put all my old friends in a box and leave them at the library. Who cares if there is dust on my Materia Medica, I might still need to look up a symptom.

Ok tossing out a fun one. If you are or have ever been a gamer, you'll appreciate these books....Matt Dinniman - Dungeon Crawler Carl series. 6 books of the series are currently released and they are such a fun and crazy read!

I'm also currently finishing up Brandon Sanderson's Mistborn trilogy. Also a really interesting story and good read.

Re reading the book of Ukrainian journalist Igor Svinarenko "Moscow beyond the Ocean".
He spent a year living in between 22 American towns named Moscow and his book depicts his take on the American way of life he observed while interacting with ordinary people, businessmen and politicians.
First time I read it in 1999, when it was first published and I was still living back in Moscow, Russia. This time, it's even more interesting as I can compare my own perception with the book. I have to say he's got a good eye and great respect to our country!

I am working through the Malazan series by Steven Erikson. Just finishing book 5 of 10. It is quite the epic story... Almost too epic lol. Not sure but I may take a break and read something else before carrying on.

Anyone else read any good books lately?
Where my book worms at?

https://g05.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1757642

I'm very disappointed to say everything I've read, or tried to read lately sucked! I read crime dramas, espionage kind of stuff. Authors that had me turning pages like crazy and blowing through books in a weekend just aren't doing it for me. I don't know if they're just trying to push them out faster. Slow down and write something worth reading.

Some of my go to authors -
Lee Child
Nelson DeMille
David Baldacci
James Patterson
Dean Koontz - Some of his stuff is too out there for me, I have read a few that were pretty good and almost realistic.

Vince Flynn - RIP - his books were awesome. Another writer took over his Mitch Rapp series but doesn't have the same style . I highly recommend the books that Flynn wrote.

My biggest disappointment is the new Greg Iles book. The past few I've preordered wound up coming out a year or so after the initial release date. That's fine, they were worth the wait. This one.... I feel like he's just using words to fill pages with no substance.

So, if anyone has any author suggestions in the crime drama or spy stuff, bring it on. I need something the read poolside.

No but the story line looks awfully familiar. " The tsunami of body fluids"...

Jeff Shaara's The Shadow of War about the Cuban missile crisis. As screwed up as things seem today, the world was a much scarier place back then.
