City wise yes but I prefer the Olympic peninsula to Vancouver Island. Seems like every person I met on the Island was seriously a hick when when went to visit the Mother in Law in Campbell River many times. At least on the Peninsula I never ran into that. There are parts of Vancouver city I would not care to go again but some of my favorites places on earth are Kelowna and Kamloops which are back woods places. Still can't for the life of me can't figure out the Island folk after probably 15 visits there, maybe it's me.

Seriously? Have you spent any time between Forks and Quinault? Banjo music everywhere...

Kelowna seems to be a nice place. The people I've met from there were very nice.

No worries on going back to school - There is a certain maturity that comes with age and experience, you'll be fine.

Spent a lot of time in Ports Ludlow, Townsend, Angeles and Hadlock. Have relatives there. There's plenty of hicks on the peninsula but never got the "whatcha doin" stares like in Vancouver Island and most of the country boys on the peninsula did not bother us. On Vancouver we got tons of lip for not only speaking German, but then when answering in first language English it was so apparent from SoCal that went out of there way to be stupid (well maybe it was natural). Either way rather be on the Peninsula than the island IMO.

Kelowna is beautiful and so is Kamloops, people are nice and genuine and never got attitude about being foreign born and being there. Vancouver city is fun but expensive and crowded.
