Verstappen is hardly a bargain...all that salary plus all the crash repair bills.
And he rarely wins a race never mind a championship.
How is a salary cap supposed to work...everyone will want to get paid the maximum allowed.

Few things piss me off more than someone trying to limit someone else's income or ability to make money.

It is absolutely wrong.

Whenever I see something like this I put my own scale up:

Any labor: 25K per year

Any non-professional intellectual career (engineering, architecture, nursing) : 50K per year

Any legal or medical profession: 75k per year

Senior leaders in a corp: 100k per year.

Would you be ok with this and where do you fall, my friend?

Think that's something else ..
Think about it ! That's just his base salary , without his private sponsors deal money and race price money like victories ,podiums and poles .
Last year HAM ran 17 races - his 1 COVID race = "16 races"

45.65 Million Dollar:16 = That's "2.85 Million Dollar" to drive a race ..."ONE" race !
Or let us say 2.85 Million Dollar in 90 minutes !

Quite a few F1 drivers and ex-drivers live in 'tax free' Monaco and Switzerland is another destination.Of course you have to have millions upon millions to buy into that club to become resident be it Monaco or Geneva.
Seems the ones with the most money save a packet on taxes, I read Jordan splashed out £32M on a super yacht to berth in Monaco though he rents it out when not in use.
