Yeah, I had that problem from 2018-2021. PITA. So glad I moved; now I have a one-car garage with room for only the BMW.

I used to have a 2x2 garage but back bay on one side usually had an out of commission car and back side of other had a vert not usually driven 1/2 the year. Now I have two 2 car garages which combined are smaller than my old 2x2. Trailer blocks one bay, driveway has 2-3 cars. I am practically a valet in moving cars everyday.

I do that so often, glad I'm not the only one. I'll even make a point of reading the instructions, repeating them back to myself and still forgetting what I'm supposed to do next.

Really busy day today. Had to drop off my BMW for service. A friend who works at the dealer set aside an M440i for my loaner but another advisor swiped the keys for another customer. Instead I have a 2023 330i with all the new fancy tech......

In a couple hours I have to go pick up my boat from storage. And we learned this week that we will be getting a boat slip at our neighborhood beach this season. Life is pretty darn good

Having a hard time finding a nice diaper bag for a dad. Any fathers here have a favorite brand you would recommend? Thanks!

I have to move motorcycles to put my girls car in the other garage bay (carriage doors, side by side thankfully). I mean I have these motorcycle lifts that allow me to move them all on casters, but still...

I keep an ipad in the kitchen with Google drive on it, it's critical. I've even though about one of those holders coming down from my cabinets wired for permanent power.

I honestly just roll with whatever my wife picks out.... if it makes him feel better, slap a sticker that says, "i used to be cool" on it.

The local major appliance center that has been in business since 1952 is closing it's doors at the end of the month. I have a 5 year extended warranty with them on my washer/dryer. Found this out from the service tech who came out yesterday to repair my washer. He said it's closing because the city needs the land (eminent domain) to extend the street, or something like that, for the Ontario Airport. He knows of no plans to relocate. I have a year left on my extended warranty.

I know the feeling, Esteban.

A few years ago I bought a dishwasher at a popular department store, not even two years later they closed the doors. I was suckered into buying the extended warranty, (5 years extended warranty) because if I did not make a claim during the term of the extended warranty, I was entitled to a redemption credit.
Guess what? Not to long after they closed doors the control panel broke and needed to be replaced, so I had to pay out of pocket. In the end I lost my store credit and still had to pay for the repairs while the dishwasher was still under warranty

Bummer…

Yeah, I feel lucky it broke down when it did. The repairs would’ve cost me more than twice as much as I paid for the extended warranty.

We’ll see what happens once they’ve closed their doors for good. Hopefully they’ll have another company do all their warranty work. *fingers crossed*

PS - is it weird to feel lucky something broke down? lol

It`s nice to be lucky .
In my experience when a newer appliance breaks down and they are only a couple of years old, chances are that they will breakdown again sooner or later.
I hope that's not the the case with you

You're probably right. I think it'll break down again sooner rather than later.

The tech who did the repairs yesterday said new washers will typically last between 5 to 7 years. I remember when they lasted 10 to 15 years. It's the way things go, It'll cost you more but won't last as long. More for less. Such is life.

Going OT a bit here...an endodontist (root canal dentist) once shared with me while he was working on a tooth that dental insurance companies would pay for a replacement crown every 7-8 years. That was just after I told him that the crowns in my mouth had been in place for 32 years. His response was "Yeah, well, there's quality work, and then there's all the rest."

I'm guessing (and I am guessing) it's the same with appliances. We bought an Asko front-loading stackable washing machine/dryer set in 2000. The washing machine lasted until 2015, and the dryer was still going strong when we sold the home in 2017. We didn't have kids with us, but we were living in the country, and they were being used on a daily basis most of the time.

We bought a Miele dishwasher in 2000, too. That unit did end up requiring maintenance from time-to-time after ten years or so, but never enough to cause us to want to replace it.

A critical factor in our ownership of all three of those appliances once they required professional attention was the quality of the service. There was a local guy who flat knew his stuff, and that made a difference.

When we bought our present home in 2021, we went with Miele for all three appliances. We'll see how it goes (they're likely to outlast us); but, being German, they're overengineered in ways that aren't always pleasing. I mean, why can't a dryer just have as one of its 27 programs be the "Just DRY the MFs, okay!?!"
