Went to a friend's farm for a Christmas Tree bonfire last night. 22 degrees, but fire and Red Breast kept us toasty!

Big fires give me anxiety! I have lived through too many in the past few years, my parents house even burned down in 2017 due to wildfires. I know its not the same situation here, but damn if my heart didn't skip a beat for a sec. LoL

As a TALCE guy, I spent an eternity waiting on FRED to get fixed most of the time

I will say the new engines and electronics on the Super Galaxies have greatly improved the airframe.

I totally get that, and that is one of the main reasons I left California when I retired. I couldn't take the endless cycles of drought and wildfire seasons anymore. I am much happier dealing with mild basement flooding due to heavy rain.

Where were you in the TALCE?

I was a TALCE CC, Flight Commander and XO in the 615th AMCS 1995-1997 at Travis before I punched out to the Reserves (as a Fred driver) and the airlines.

I was an MST in the 815th AMS at Travis from 2000 until 2005 when I retired. I was a C-17 loadmaster at Charleston for 4 years, so it was either TALCE at Travis or being sentenced to instructor duty at Altus. I chose wisely

Good choice.

I avoided LTS by the skin of my teeth too.

Those teenagers pushing baby strollers around Wal-Mart?

They were NOT babysitters.

Not much else to do out there in the boonies except make baby's with farmer's daughters!

All this talk about C-5's and C-17's...........allow me to introduce Hercules.
The C-130 is the baddest, most diversified Aircraft in the World. Period.

I've flown plenty on all the platforms, but since I was a C-130 Crew Chief for 13 years before cross training, i'ts obviously my favorite. If you've never been on a Low Level terrain following ride completely blacked out on NVG's, you havent lived.

Crewed HC-130 P/N and EC-130H models. Below is 69-5827. My name was on her side for a few years.

Your's truly standing on the open ramp of an E model Herc, high over the Yuma Arizona during a HALO drop. I think I was like 20 in this photo
I acquired over 3,000 hours on 130's before moving on to 141s, then to 27s (Panama), and finally to 17s before my final stint to the TALCE. I was fortunate to love every assignment I ever had.

Awesome!! I will try to find some of my old pics. Served from 1988-2012.
Best thing I ever saw was dropping Spec Ops off in Northern Iraq during Desert Storm. Loaded up with ATV's, Dune Buggies, etc......landed at a "strip" in "somewhere" , dropped the ramp while still rolling down the runway, Spec Ops rolls out the back and into the night, we raise the ramp and take back off. Less than 2 minutes. Unreal.
