I swapped on-call this weekend because I hurt my back, but forgot to move the UPS alarms. Stupid wind is blowing here, and I got multiple alerts as the power browned out. Off, oh wait, it's back - no, off aga - ok it's on. I'm trying to take a freaking nap here !!!

The small city where I work was the first in the region to have electricity, and the grid was actually installed by Thomas Edison. I swear that some pieces that he installed are still in use, because we get hit daily with drops/sags on one or more feeds in to the grounds. There are feeds from three different substation circuits coming in from separate roads, and they are all as shaky as a rowboat in the ocean.....

When you can hurt your back while trimming your 'stache. Just standing there clipping a few strays and whack, instant backache.

Had them on, plus my mirror is one of those magnifying types. But I can cripple myself just by standing still.

...when you have to loop your belt through the pants before putting them on.
Whenever I reach around with my left arm to thread a belt through those center back loops recently, I get a stabbing pain in my arm. I suspect that it is some sort of carpal tunnel thing, from having to type on a notebook keyboard during COVID-geddon and not at a desk with my normal adult-sized keyboard. On a side note, we did a two-week online-only pause earlier this month at work, because the positive test rate in our county was climbing. As part of the un-pause, *nobody* is allowed to enter the campus unless they have a negative COVID nasal swab test (not a rapid test) on file dated within 7 days of their planned return. Since I'm still 100% WFH, the 7-day thing means that I need three day's lead time to get a test before I can enter the grounds for a critical emergency. All for the better, since it will take me three days to loop my belt! I guess that it's a feel-good thing, since they are asking for a one-time test and not weekly tests.....

Plantar fasciitis? If so, I can recommend some heel cups for your shoes that will cure that in a week or so.....

These things worked miracles on me about 15 years ago:
https://heelthatpain.com/treatments/htp-heel-seats/ My PF started to appear a few days before I left for a work trip to Washington, DC, that involved a lot of urban walking. I honestly don't know how I made it through that 4-day trip without jumping off a bridge into the Potomac! I went as far as putting the 17mm impact socket for my lug bolts into my shoe to try and support the arch in front of the heel while I was there! When I got home, I was rolling a tennis ball under my heel for several days with no improvement. My DW ordered a set of the above HTP inserts, and I was pain-free in about a week. Bought a second set about a year later for another pair of shoes, and have been using those two sets for about 15 years now with no pain or replacements. I toss them in the washing machine every month or so, and have never felt the need to replace them every three months like they recommend. Of course, I haven't been doing much walking for the last 5 years due to the ticker issue, but I did 7-10 miles of autox course walks and event management every weekend wearing them before that. If your pain gets worse over the next few days, these are what did the trick for me.....
