I have an M1 MBP, and an i7 iMac. Both with SSDs and 16GB RAM. I have an Automation that I run that shuts down all open programs. That automation runs considerably faster on my i7 iMac than it does on my MBP. Otherwise I don't notice much difference in speed between the two machines. Photoshop seems about the same. That's the biggest resource hog on either machine.

Wow. Very surprised. I find the laptops (I've had two of the newer M chips types) blew away my old iMac. Which has a i5 and old style spinning hard drive not SSD. And my measurement was how fast it could open my rather large music library or photo library or restart and actually have everything loaded. Perhaps the better speed I see is more memory defined than actual processor.

I went from a Mid'15 MBP to an M2 MBP and it's been a great upgrade. I'm waiting a little while before replacing the Cinema Display with a Studio Display which is $1600 for the Nano glass, ouch!

Wife's mercedes was giving an "auxiliary battery malfunction" code. At her service last week they said $250 for diagnostics, because

"your car doesn't have an auxiliary battery"

a 15 second search from google and a 10 minute video on youtube later I ordered one of these.

Cost from mercedes...
$250 diagnostic
$358 part
2 hours labor $350
total = $958

cost online was $110. 10 minute video, 20 minute install and the problem's gone

and there's a $15 core charge when I send the part back

Just a little shopping from the past week or so. I wanted a desk in the office. Then I realized my 16” MBP wasn’t going to cut it. So, I bought a monitor. Then I got tired of the MacBook slaved into the monitor, so, I bought a standalone Mac. Then the room air was a little blah, so, I bought a ceiling fan and installed it.

They’re both A380s, even though the white one is the only one that actually looks like an A380. The blue one looks like a A330, but, the stand claims it’s an A380-800.

It’s a 49” Samsung Odyssey Neo G9. 240hz, 1ms. Mac Studio is just the stock but with 1tb solid state. They come with 512. I upgraded to the 1tb because in the M2 studio, they went with a single 512 chip which leaves one of the memory slots empty, which makes the drive read and write speed garbage. The only way to fix it is to buy a 1tb so they put 2 512 chips in it. One in each slot.

Drill, Impact, Reciprocating saw, Oscillating saw, Ratchet, Light , charger and ( 2 ) 20v 5 amp batteries. I should be good for awhile.

I moved to Nevada a couple of months ago, so deciding to furnish the entire house with brand new furniture is a massive expense. My 85” Samsung Frame TV was just delivered last week and my white KEF LS60 wireless speakers arrive Tuesday. I bought another Peter Lik; the "Luna Pathway".....which will be delivered in a few weeks too. It'll be mounted in my master/primary bedroom. The other two Peter Lik's that I already own will go in the living room and the den/seating area of the new house. I also ordered a Restoration Hardware “Machinto” media console that will arrive in two weeks. I feel like Crate & Barrel, RH, and West Elm are taking all of my money.

Went on a bit of a shopping spree.

Bought my in-laws a new car - a brand new X1. I'm shocked at how NICE this car is for the price. We were shopping around to replace their 15 year old accord, and were checking out cars like the Rav4, CRV, etc. Both Toyota and Honda dealers were asking for 10% over MSRP. Meanwhile the BMW dealer that I have a pretty good relationship with was offering me 5% below MSRP on the X1. So the price delta between the Rav4/CRV and this X1 was almost nil. Needless to say, the in-laws are ecstatic.

Finally, spoiled the kids with some new shoes. A pair of AJ 12s for my daughter, and some AJ 2s and AJ 1s for my son.

Not nearly as exciting as some of the other posts here, but these are the last things I bought. My dad has been having some issues with coughing spells as he lays in his bed and one of his caregivers suggested raising his bed and his head. Before he moved into memory care I don’t think I had ever ordered a single thing from Amazon.

Boy, deciding on that Mini Cooper really loosened up y’all’s purse strings, huh?!

Not to rain on your very cool kids shoe purchase, but just a little thought to go along with it. When I was a toddler my mom had me wearing those decidedly uncool stiff leather shoes to support my developing feet and ankles. These days I’m very thankful for that, because of something I noticed after I moved to Chicago. As you know I live in the city and I walk around the city a lot. After I moved here and started observing hundreds and thousands of people walking around I noticed there is a large percentage of the population who have feet issues. Most commonly over pronation or under pronation. I literally tell people if they know a young person considering their career becoming a podiatrist in Chicago would be very lucrative. All that just to say, pay attention to how your kids are walking as they develop.
