I like the look of my Ultraboost that I currently have but don't think they are the most comfortable tennis shoe. I bought my first pair on sale but wouldn't spend the money to buy again.
I was about a bottle of champagne in when I commented last night & got excited about the color lol. The ones I just bought are the same exact color and styling but not ultraboost. |

Definitely not a whole "created shoe", more of personalized colors, accents, laces. Which for me is still nice. |

So the other day I get an email from VANS saying my shipment has been processed and will be delivered next week. That's great but the only thing is I did not buy anything recently. As you can imagine I was a bit confused, I thought maybe someone had sent me something I did not know about. So the day came and sure enough a package arrived from VANS. With crazy anticipation I opened the box and found this.....
I have been a member of the "Family" for a while now but never got anything like this, mad cool. They are their top of the line UltraCush. I don't do FO, Insta, or anything like that so I thought I would post it up here. Mad Props to VANS!!!

Vans......so strange how certain things become popular. The company has been around since '66 and suddenly now they are the cool shoe to wear. I started wearing Vans when I was 12, because I skated (skateboarding that is). Used to get made fun of for wearing them because they weren't Nike Air. It's funny how out of nowhere suddenly they are popular. It's like North Face jackets a few years ago.
If I see a person wearing Vans these days, the first thing that crosses my mind when I walk past is "poser." Yes it's just a shoe, but I find it hilarious to see people my age wearing them because they see young people wear them and want to be cool too.....which ultimately makes them not cool. Now, if I see anyone wearing them, of any age, and the shoes show signs of actually being skated in; not only do you earn respect, I may even stop and chat with you. If you own Vans and they are pristine, my question is how many North Face jackets do you own? It's like showing up on a job site with tools that show no signs of wear. You may get respect from people who like clean tools, but from the people that know what's going on; you get no love. That is a cool gift from the company though. p.s. not passing judgement on your kicks, just my $.02 which is worth less than $.02. |

Like the metal heads crying about the Kardashians wearing a Slayer shirt, "She shouldn't be wearing that she probably doesn't even listen to them!" Who cares? |

Sub-cultures, like skateboarders or metalheads have always been very protective of the things they perceive as belonging to them.
You should have heard all the west coast punk kids melting down when Green Day got popular! It happens, and understandably so. The same dynamic drives the opposition to "cultural appropriation", honestly. |
