1. Pump up the tire then put a drop of spit on the valve opening. If it bubbles up your valve is leaking. If not, you are good.

2. They sell valve stem caps with the valve key built in!

Schraeder valve was tight and not leaking so it's in the bin with the old tube (new one is holding fine.

Cyclocross practice races start this weekend. I am mentally not yet prepared for sustaining and average of 93-95% of my max heart rate for 30 minutes.

'Cross is intense. Nasty weather makes it more so.

Some pics I shot at an event a couple of years ago.

I knocked out 15 miles today on my FX3 cruiser. Nasty 15-20MPH headwind in one direction, but it made for a nice return leg. I hit my 100 mile/week goal and still have tomorrow to add to the total.

Put together a 14 mile loop a few days ago. My wife and I rode some city bike trails to a restaurant for dinner. Ate dinner then took surface streets/sidewalks for the ride home. It was a good ride, got us out to explore, but still searching for a solid regular loop.

My Dream Build Bike

Hello all, thought I'd share my bike that was 10 years in the making.
Mountain biked for 20 years and always wanted a road bike, but I promised myself I wouldn't compromise.
10 years of hard work and dreaming about it later and I finally build my dream bike.
Best experience ever, buying each component one at a time and doing my homework to work out what was for me. Hate to say it but even more exciting (for me) than waiting for that next M car.
Now doing rides up to 380km and have never looked back.
Anyone who is thinking of building something special and is unsure I say go for it, no buyers remorse and unlike your car you can keep it in the house and admire it each time you walk in the room.
Only problem is here in Scotland it's a summer bike, did the first winter in it and payed the price having to replace most of the ceramic bearings, not cheap!

Sweet looking bike. My project bike is not so high end, but it's still a significant upgrade over the original bike. More like a Ford Mustang compared to your Aston Martin.

I started with a Trek Crossrip 1, which was basically a commuter road bike. I added a Dura-Ace/Pioneer crank with dual-side power meter, Ultegra RX 11-34 cassette with Di2, Ultegra hydraulic disc brakes, a CF gravel bike handlebar, Cobb Randee saddle, Topeak rear rack, and Bontrager TLR wheels. I had Schwalb G1 32's on it, but then went with road only 28's. Now I'm getting ready to go back to beefier 32's so it can handle gravel and the chip road surfaces we deal with every summer. The Crossrip is a bit hefty, but it rides like a dream and is very comfortable. I'll ride it for a few days in a row and then jump on my Trek Domane SL7 and feel like I'm flying.

Sounds like a good spec, ultegra is every bit as good as dura-ace for sure. I considered a gravel bike but i've got 2 MTB's, hardtail and Full Sus.
My original Klein attitude hardtail is such an amazing do it all bike. I rebuilt it 2 years ago after getting a custom paint job on the frame, another costly build but the geometry is close to the road bike, but I can go off road.
Domane sounds nice also

Easy 13 miler on the FX3 to put me at 120 miles this week and just over 4k for the year.

This is pretty fantastic - i just discovered after many years that there is a thread on road cycling, and the last topic features a no-expense spared Dogma F12

I've been riding my trusty old '08 Trek Madone for almost 15 years now. Old tech, haven't really maintained it well, but the 105 groupset just runs. i finally replaced the cables and chain this year

With so much in life and the world changing, I've come to view cycling not just as exercise but also an escape and a way to get my head straight. And also a source of infinite new personal challenges. So I've finally added a second bike to the garage (third actually but my S-Works Epic Evo isn't on topic in this thread)

Jumping in on this thread, just picked up a "new to me" Trek Domane SL6 this weekend. I've only been riding for about a year. Have an older Trek FX 7.4 that I've been using. The upgrade feels like I went from a 25 year old pickup truck to my 340i. Looking forward to many miles on this bike in the coming years.
