Practice patience. If riding is indeed a new thing, you're gonna be stunned at the power. Ever read Jonathan Livingston Seagull? He learned to fly as fast as thought. A crotch rocket is as close as you'll ever get to that. Think it, twist the throttle, and you're there. It's addictive and dangerous if you're not careful. Respect the power.

And I'd imagine that Denmark has similar licensing procedures as Germany? I know in Germany you couldn't just go buy a bike and take a quick test to get a license. It was a long process. At least it used to be.

Absolutely. To get the license it takes at least 29 lessons of theory, at least 22 lessons of practical training (15 hours of road training and the rest is technical driving skills), a first aid course and the training bike must have a certain amount of power. Think its about 80 hp or more. Normally it takes 8-12 weeks to get the license. I can start in december and I should expect to have the license in march.

Been getting lower back pain the past few months. Scheduled to get X-rays soon but I just think it's an old back that's starting to show it's age. |

We had issues here as well so some years ago the rules were changed. Today we have three levels of the motorcycle licenses. First level can be taken at the age of 18 and allows for a maximum of 15 hp. The second level can be taken after two years of having the first level or the age of 21. The second level allows for motorcycles up to 48 hp. Most young beginners simply wait until they are 21 at least. The last level requires you to have had the second level of license for at least two years or the age of 24. Again many simply wait until they are 24. Since I double that I am applying for the final level. If you want to upgrade your license you always need to take a minor course before upgrading.

Things have advanced quite a bit since our original one, so the new one will be much better for me as the roller can now go from your neck to the top of the hamstring. My main issue revolves around the sciatic nerve, so this one will do a much better job on this. Both my wife and I use it pretty much daily.

I took a course that was two evenings a week for six weeks. Each session was about three hours long with about a half hour of theory and the rest was seat-time on the course. We used mainly 125cc enduro bikes. The course consisted of figure-8s, slalom sections, various intersections, obstacles (such as logs, tires and even an old muffler that you had to ride over at different speeds), stop-start on a slope, a slow speed section with an instructor there to count the spokes as they passed the front forks and a collision avoidance exercise where an instructor would stand in the middle of the track while you rode directly at him at about 30km/h. At the last second he would indicate which side you were to pass by him. That man had balls! At the end of the six weeks you would do a run of the entire course while being scrutinized by all of the instructors. They would decide whether or not you earned your bike license. It's not quite the same as in Denmark but it's a lot better than wobbling your way through a single figure-8 in a parking lot.

That may be the way it is where you are (or how it is now), but when my kids got their license's as recent as 2006, the driving test was pretty inclusive. The only difference between when I got my license in 1972 and they got theirs was the parallel parking requirement; it was dropped. My wife failed on her first attempt.

Foxwell NT530 Multi-System Scanner...
...for when I replace my battery and need to register the new unit. I expect that to pay for the scanner, more or less.
