Li-sa X has made her name on Youtube playing covers of awesome guitar based tracks to perfection. Original compositions are the obvious next step.

Here's one for you Artemis . One of the true, classic tracks from back in the rave days.
Yes, much too early over here but .. T99 (Belgium) "Anasthasia" |

Found that one in my vinyl collection. (From my dad) 1981 German pressing.

Notorious in those days were the high-quality remixes by a Belgian DJ called Frank De Wulf (also highly acclaimed outside Belgium). Two examples: When this track (with hilarious hyperbolic lyrics) was played in a club, the crowd went nuts as soon as the massive bass dropped from 01:15 onwards (announced by the hallmark 'Anasthasia' instrument): so you got a bass pouncing from the get-go and suddenly an even more savage bass is added. Most who knew that remix were waiting for that moment of bass rumble bliss. A good DJ opened all volume channels to max level right at that moment. Not for the faint-hearted... Human Resource - Dominator (Frank De Wulf # 1 Mix) (1991) And this is a sweet one. Musically: a good example of the technique of adding and removing bass (to make the crowd in the club yearning for the bass to kick in): Jam & Spoon - "Stella (Frank De Wulf Mix)" (aka "The Lost Bet Mix") ((1992):

Nice. I'm getting a bit of acid jazz vibe going on with that track.
It was an interesting time for me in the early 90s as I was into underground techno stuff while at the same time jamming out to what was then the Grunge rock revolution coming out of my hometown. One night we'd be at a secret invite-only warehouse party complete with half naked girls dancing in cages and the following night we'd be in a cozy live house listening to the latest local rock bands. I was also heavily into UK alternative rock bands as well and would catch some of them when they came into town like Catherine Wheel. M5Rick knows what I'm talking about. |
