My most favourite is definitely Laphroaig Triple Wood. I love peaty, smoked single malts.

I have open Glenmorangie The Quinta Ruban at the moment and I was pleasantly surprised with its taste.
Got it as a gift and was not expecting much but the taste is just so smooth.

Uncorked this bad boy last weekend..

Springbank 21 2017 release. Just super. Its up there with the Yamazaki 18 as my top distillery release non-caskstrength dram. Fruity, chocolatey, funky. Since I pause my whisky consumption during the work week, I can't wait to get into it again this weekend. Cheers!

The Nikka SFTB is amazing. One of the best bang for buck pours out there and certainly the best Japanese whisky bang for buck by far IMO.

Local sports bar had a new bottle tonight. Will be picking up a bottle or 3 at my first opportunity.

Well you weren't lying, the Nikka was phenomenal. Definitely happy I grabbed it randomly off the shelf. The Jura on the other hand is a pass in my eyes. I'll still drink it, but nothing to write home about that is for damn sure.

Awesome get I'm yet to try the BP EHT. Is that last year's Handy? Another amazing bottle, which I got for the first time and blew me away.

I was able to pick up this little 2021 number this week, to join the 2020 bottle in my bar, undecided which one to open first

Nikka STFB was incredibly disappointing IMO. Bottled at a higher ABV it would likely have been much better.

Dang, some big bottles there guys! I was just able to snag a few MWND Act 9 and was pretty thrilled about that!

Oh and a good bottle kill last night

Yeah - isn't it bottled at something around or above 50%? I haven't tried it, so I have no opinion on it, but was contemplating picking up a bottle based on what others have said, but I respect your opinion as well, so now I'm not sure.

What is it bottled at and why didn't you like it?

I was wrong on the proof - updated comment below.

If you like the subtlety of typical, relatively cheap, Japanese whiskey you would probably like it. I generally like something with more flavor and more to it, the Nikka just didn't have anything that stood out to me.

Sorry to hear you didn't enjoy it. They are always bottled at 51.4% abv so I don't think the proof is the problem, It was also Whisky Advocate's whisky of the year in 2018 and has therefore become highly sought after and hard to find.

For others who haven't tried it, If you do find it at the MSRP of about $75, I still recommend picking it up.

Definitely grab a EHTBP if you can find one, or at least a pour at a bar that offers it. It's so good! And the Handy is a 2019, but unfortunately not at retail. :P

I haven't tried the King of Kentucky before. Haven't even seen it before to be honest.

Interesting, just went and looked and mine is 51.4% as well. That makes me even less enthusiastic about the pour, anywhere above 100 proof is where the flavor should start really showing from my experience. I wonder what I was remembering is proofed different between Europe and the US now...

I got my 500ml for $50 in France and feel like I overpaid, but like I said, I generally prefer the bigger flavors.

I just picked this up, was aged in Ice Wine casks from a winery about 5 KM from where we used to live. I'll report back when I give it a taste.

I saw this at the store a few weeks back and was sorely tempted. Got the wife some anise instead

Good? Better than a normal BH?

The BH dark rye is very light on spice and is drinks more like a wheated whiskey to me. Disappointing if you are in the mood for a rye but the best BH I have tried. Still not something I would likely purchase again.

Is Blantons Bourbon Kentucky whiskey any good? Normal price is $70 but they are selling $200.

I wouldn’t pay $200, or even $100 for a bottle.
