I might be somewhat spoiled having lived in the Beer capitol of Germany: Bamberg. Actually any beer made in the Bamberg - Bayreuth - Nurnberg area is gonna be pretty good. The Germans call it the Beer triangle area. This area of Franconia Germany is actually in the Guinness book of world records for the most beer breweries in one area. Over 2,000! Inside of Bamberg's city limits there are over 200 breweries - another Guinness book world record holder.

My favorites are

Miasel Weiss heffen weissbeer (Bayreuth)
Marsbrau (Bamberg)
Augustiner beer (Munich)

At this point, probably Bourbon County Brand Stout. I've got a couple bottles of KBS and a bottle of CBS that I'm looking forward to opening, not to mention maybe a dozen bottles of Dark Lord from attending each year, 2013 - 2017.

I've been chasing rare beers a while. I'll be opening a bottle of Utopias in a few weeks. Looking forward to that night.

Have to agree, I love me a Weissbier!

We do have a few of our own down here but nothing as good as the German frothees.

Going to be back over there at Christmas, cant wait.

There can be no such thing. My answer is all. Particularly west coast ipas none of those floral stupid European that taste like a women's soap.

Deschutes and stone make some good mass produced ones. But there are so many I could have new one every day and never see the end.

Utopias is big, boozey and sweet. More like a cognac than a beer.

Having said that, I enjoyed it.

I don't buy any Goose Island stuff since the InBev purchase.

Dark Lord is great, but I wouldn't sit on that 2013 too much longer, 4-5 years seems to be about the point where it starts to develop some off flavors, in my experience.

Where was that photo taken?

It reminds me of a Belgium beer brewery I've stayed at before: Het Anker...

Het Anker is a restaurant, beer brewery, and motel. The motel was so so... but their food and beers were top notch!

The Belgians also make some very good Cheese and Chocolates too, beside great beer!

Schöfferhofer makes some nice Weizenbier(wheat beers) but they are out of Frankfurt. Maybe I am too Bayerische now. Schöfferhofer is famous for their "blended" beers(Weizen-Mix) like half beer half grapefruit juice and other "mixes".

www.schoefferhofer.de

They also have a nice online gift shop... http://www.schoefferhofer.markenshop.../de/Kollektion
