If you wanted to use m for a thousand, you should have used the captial M as Latin only knows captials.
But for roman use you cannot use 130M as in 130.000
you either use Latin numbers, so that would be CXXX (there should be a bar above the letters, but I cant type that: C for Centum milia, X for Decem milia), or you use the SI prefix system (like the rest of the world).
The SI prefix system dictates that k=kilo=thousand.
The accountingcoach is a very trivial information source imho...
The SI prefix system is certainly the most used system to abbreviate large or small numbers in the 10x scale (and there m is 1/1000 and M is 1.000.000

But hey, if you want to rule out confusion 100%, just write the whole number.
It's certainly most confusing where everybody in the whole thread uses k as a thousand multiplier and there have been quite a few (so si-prefix).... and you use another...

m or M is irrelevant and either are widely used in my line of work....Capital letter does not imply ,000 and lowercase m implies less value...

simplest source with a quick google search for a simple explanation...

Yes I understand your line of work (accountancy), but I think you dont fully understand the scope of the SI system.
And as I said, everybody in this thread has used k.

I know that for expressing money there are no real or set rules in this setting.
But you're only confusing people.

Not an accountant...but I do work with numbers...

probably right, I just have a $3mm ($3,000k) ($3,000,000) credit pen...what do I know

FWIW - the SI system is a measurement of weight and distance, science and medicine, etc...not applied to GAAP as a practice...

and everybody else uses k and completely understands eachother.
...and has trouble understanding you.....so.....

^Nope - read again...

"In a recent business publication I saw million represented by mn and also by m (both lower case). This means it is possible for you to see $1,400,000 expressed as $1.4 million or $1.4mn or $1.4m or $1.4MM or $1,400k or $1,400M."

^fair point, and I did too and assumed this was correct by lack of full understanding until securing employment in Corporate and Commercial Lending about 20 years ago....

Hopefully this clarifies any confusion. We can discuss the particulars of this in PM if still interested....

No wonder banking is jacked up can't tell what number is being discussed. Maybe they could accidentally use wrong term and put couple Million in my account. What's a credit pen the ones they give out at the credit union?

Credit Pen is the term of what a single signature can approve...the bigger the pen the bigger the ego

Only people that don't need to borrower actually qualify

I'd think of it more as a gift from your employer. I live in Washington and will start a weed beer industry to pay back if needed.

I believe you believe in the dream

I'm a 'conservative' lender BTW....cash flow is king, then collateral structures the deal....sounds like your collateral is perishable and easily 'moved'....and cash flow is a cash business....

Not my dream just an idea. I only know about one side of the equation, beer and only that I like to drink it. Craft beer is going crazy especially here, California, and Colorado. No experience with drugs other than my job legal drugs.

Google Highland Brewing Company, Asheville NC.

I help the owner (Oscar) start his brewery several years ago - he is widely considered the Sam Adams of the South....primary driver for Sierra Nevada and New Belgium moving their East Coast facilities to Asheville...

Also - Asheville has either won, or is in the top 3 cities for Beer City USA almost every year...too many micro brewery's to list, but AMAZING trip if you're a micro connoisseur...

I can get this done at one dealer...

Macan Turbo and Cayman GTS would be my everyday vehicles. I'd add a 911 GT3 for track use and extra-sporting occasions.
