Trade deadline coming up in two weeks. Seems like lately the biggest moves happen before the deadline.

Excited for Dilly Dilly time in DC. Not much of a give up for someone who can really help us out! Plus SJ retaining salary... almost sounds too good to be true...

Kings traded Alec Martinez to Vegas for two 2nd round draft picks.
And we traded my favorite player Toffoli to Canucks, ugh.
We should also trade Quick while we can still get something for him.

Toffoli was definitely one of the big prizes on the market this year. I was also surprised they did not want to rebuild with him. Maybe something in the locker room we don't know about?

He was on a tear - 14 goals in 7 games - and then not. The national coverage is pretty crazy. He finally hit 699 last night. He's super annoyed at all of the coverage for 700. The goal isn't 700 - at all.

Kovy and Ovi together in the NHL for the first time ---- maybe ten years too late.

I'm not sure what to think of this deal. Give up a 3rd round pick when we could've signed him for free a few weeks ago is bad; however, Montreal retaining half salary basically means we are paying Montreal a 3rd rounder to utilize $375k of cap space. I guess it's a good deal bc low risk? ????

Mike Green to Edmonton - I think the Mike Green ship has sailed... he's sustained a few too many heavy hits to be very effective anymore. Hope the best for him though.

Kreider staying with the Rags is a surprise! Wonder why they went 7 years instead of 8 (and what the dollar value was).

EDIT: Cap hit $6.5m per year.

It won't matter. The problem is on the back end (and coaching). Carlson has a ton of points, but he is a god awful defenseman. Did you see him get absolutely worked by Malkin yesterday? Norris candidate my ass.

Agree, I was hoping Bmac would rightly pass on the idea of getting Green. Nice guy, but his time is up.

Generally, I agree. It is a long season, though, so I am not ruling anything out. Just get to the playoffs and see what happens. Holtby has been playing a bit better lately, so that is a help. I think the Dillon add is huge. It is time to start putting together some solid game-long efforts. And stop with the allowing so many break aways!

Sunday night the 'king guys had a real issue with lopsided attacks, they kept getting caught with defense in the offensive zone or something. Dougherty is pretty good, but not 3 on 1 good. I'm surprised the score wasn't higher than 3-1.

Throwaway season. Let's see if we can get something going next year with some of these draft picks and younger guys coming into their own. We have traded: Alec Martinez, Tyler Toffoli, Jack Campbell, Kyle Clifford, Derek Forbort, and let Ilya Kovelchuck go. That's a lot of starters/semi-starters. Going to be very interesting to see what we look like next year.
