Well I bit the bullet and bought the Magrette. It's 80% what I want but for the price I think it makes sense. I've decided that I should tie one of the more expensive watches to some career goals so that it means more.
Now I'm looking for a couple straps. One I want to be perlon, but I'm undecided on the color. The other is I want a light brown padded leather strap like the Panerai, but I don't know where to find a quality one. Advice?

Ya to me if youre planned on wearing it daily then enjoy your purchase and not try to worry so much about what others think. You spend your hard earns on nice things, enjoy life! so what if ppl snicker at you? life is too short to worry about their feelings. I enjoy my 135 dollar mvmt chrono, 200 dollar seiko skx much more than my 4k tag. each watch brings me a different type of joy and i thirst for it if its missing from my collection
Swapping straps in like changing color center cap on our wheels lol. it changes the whole look for cheap! capt crunch try https://wristcandywatchclub.com/ or http://natostrapco.com/

Does anyone know where I can get this strap in a 22mm to fit the Magrette? All these styles come in 24mm: https://www.amazon.com/Ritche-Leathe...16QGS6QRGN0MR2
The closest I can find is here, but it doesn't come with the lighter contrast stitching. https://www.amazon.com/DASSARI-Herit...ded+Watch+Band

If you wear a Pan chances are it will not go unnoticed. That being said, I wouldn't give a f*** what people think. Enjoy the watch as I think it's one the coolest pieces out there

Very nice. I like that Bucherer. What type of Calendar is that - "just" a date or is it annual or perpetual? I like it a lot.

Here's a pic of the watch with some amazon strap. No deployment strap because the deployment is uncomfortable against my wrist so I removed it. Sadly I have to use the penultimate strap hole because I have tiny little wrists. Overall I'm pretty pleased with it although I'm flummoxed on how to change the time/dual time because the lugs don't pull out like I'm used to. Doesn't fit at all under my french cuff shirt and barely underneath my normal shirts. I'm surprised because it doesn't seem that big at 42mm and fairly reasonable height.

To be honest, I haven't read the whole thread, but I'll put in my 2 cents
I think it really depends on how conspicuous 'you' are. People who know watches will, in my case at least, either be interested or appreciative, rather than judgemental (I'm way more judgmental of people wearing fake gold/fake rolexes/fake diamond whatevers and trying to be flashy). Most people won't even blink an eye. I have a Rolex GMT Master II (stainless) and an Omega Seamaster 300 (Spectre edition). More people realize what the Rolex is, but I don't get many comments on it, and if I'm wearing it with a suit or jacket, it's usually tucked under the sleeve, not sticking out. A friend of mine who I've been hanging out with regularly the past 5 or 6 months was talking about one of her friends who loved watches and Rolexes, when I said that I have one and wear it every once in a while she had no idea I owned one. The Omega looks like any other wristwatch whether it be $10 or $10k and with the NATO strap, unless you see the movement underneath or really hold the watch, nobody would have any clue what it was (minus a true Bond fan or watch aficionado )

This is not unlike tailors asking if you dress right or left. Its the little things that make tailored shirts so much better.

I have a 22 mm deployant clasp and band that you are welcome to have as I believe I read your lugs are 22mm. I used to have it on my RGM which I no longer own. Let me know. EuroDude |

I agree with several of you.
First, wear what you want - don't worry about what others think Second, don't be a jerk about your watch Third, most people don't know what nice watches are. With the proliferation of cheap Fossil and fake lookalikes, as far as anyone else is concerned it could be a piece of junk on your arm. I prefer a Breitling - I have and love Chronomats. I also like the B1 and Navitimer 01, but have neither because I just prefer wearing Chronomats daily. Its a bit bling, but no one notices - only 1 person has ever commented on it.

Unless you flaunt with your watch,it's OK what you wear. I,however, don't bother even if one is showing off what he / she is wearing.
Sometimes, you might be in an area where you don't want your watch to get noticed by others. Don't be shy, it's your money and your aren't stealing away it from others revenue |

I fell in love the very first time I saw this watch but at 47mm, not only did it feel huge, it also looks huge, but it's actually quite comfortable to wear.
My Deepsea and BLNR go mostly unnoticed except for the sharp eye of a fellow wis in my circles.....but when ever I wear the 372, people look at it everywhere. I get about as much compliments or acknowledgements as my Yas F80. It's absolutely cleavage for my wrist. People look down and up....repeat... It does make me feel a bit awkward at times. I love the simplicity of the dial and wish Panerai made it in 44mm at least but no other Pam besides LE models comes so close to pure old school Pam DNA so I love this watch but not so much the attention. As such I don't wear it in my work or professional life just because it would attract too much attention. I work in hospitals and in EMS sometimes, so professionally I would be uncomfortable in that environment with it, where in the same context I can wear a Rolex and it goes basically unnoticed maybe they think it's fake. I don't care what people think but I am considerate if I'm on medical rotations because I don't want the topic of my watch to interfere with patient care. Outside of that I wear at will. I work hard and play hard. I've loved mechanical watches since a child so I buy what I want and wear them wherever, except like Djibouti or walking around at 2am in Juarez. Stumbled upon this thread and found it interesting because I wondered the same thing before I bought my Pam. I have a Radiomir 1940 that I LOVE. It's beautiful and no one knows what the hell it is. I wear it almost daily and while I get the occasional compliment from "Joe," only watch enthusiasts really know what it is and always sparks a good conversation. I have a few friends who flash their Rolexes around like d-bags so that people will notice... not classy.

Indeed. Bought a $3k Jaeger-LeCoultre Heraion. Was hard to give away.
You wear a Pan, in my opinion you are asking to get noticed. I just don't like them. An Asian friend has one, I think it looks ridiculous. The Rolex will get you noticed for the brand and that stereotype though. |

In the places I live, Bicoastal...no one cares, people that care tend to be watch guys.. and it’s a great convo starter. I’ve also gotten to that place in life I really don’t care what other people think to be honest.
That said when I was at work, my teammate said I notice you got a new watch the other day... I got the new dj41 with ss +wht gold fluted jubilee and rhodium dial with diamonds, so it’s really shiny. He has an iron man. We went into a half an hour convo and now he’s going to try and get the submariner...it is backordered. Story goes to show you people that care will notice, people that don’t won’t. The only times I’m uncomfortable and I try to hide my watches is when I have to go somewhere for work that is in a place I think is not safe. These days I limit my travel so it’s only once in a blue moon But in honesty, no one should even care if the watch was conspicuous or not. |

That said I never, and I mean NEVER, actually button my cuffs, so I guess it's good to know I could if I wanted to.
