There are certain scripts that I like to run that favor two 3080's instead of one 3090 although the single 3090 has more VRAM. Just got a new ASUS ROG strix 3080Ti and I am really looking forward to putting it through its paces (and most likely going to be selling one of the 3080's).

Very nice. I also managed to find a rtx3060 in a real store, so ''''MSRP''''. Still, paying 715$cad (tx-in) for the low-med range 3000 series, still pissing me off. Those are still going between 850-1000$ cad on fb market, so I get a '''''''fair''''''' price. I paid 220$ iirc cad for my previous GTX960 4gb Strix, when prices were acceptable ! |

I have been using desktops only for last 15 years and I never had a need to own a laptop. My college and work luckily did not required one.
I am a desktop fan because of the performance, but mostly for its comfort. Dedicated keyboard with mouse and 27inch screen is priceless. |

Laptop for location work and tethered for shooting in the studio, when I'm going to read or watch something at the kitchen table etc.
I got my mom an iPad when she was in the hospital, so she could have facebook and email etc. I have ended up using the tablet more than she ever did. When just sitting on the couch I find it's super convenient, light weight, the right size, much nicer to manage than my bulky 15' laptop, easy to use and live with. Desktop I like to build myself. Though it's not difficult I just take a small amount of satisfaction from using a rig I built myself. Also I can get exactly the parts/brands I want. Also it was a response to the bloatware family members had on their PCs. Though it didn't last I also moved over to Linux and didn't need a preloaded OS, so I decided I'd build my own desktop. |

Yeah I use my desktop for gaming most days. Got consoles as well, and a gaming laptop, but desktop is where it's at. Due an upgrade, though: 5820k, 1070, 32GB 2400MHz DDR4. It will be relegated to server duty when GPUs are actually available again and I can build a new machine.

Work provides the laptop. I have a dock with 2 27" screens + laptop screen. We work from home permanently now.
I have a fairly beefy desktop (1tb nVME, Ryzen 9 3900X, MSI 3080, etc) running 3-32" 1440p 144hz Samsung G5 monitors for iRacing, Dirt, Asseto Corsa, etc. |

I use a laptop as the brain and everything else is setup to a docking station. Two 27 inch Asus monitors, mouse, keyboard, speakers etc. I love it this way so if I want to work from home one day I have my computer with me.
90% of the time I'm at my office and just hook it up to the docking station. I let a cooling pad with fans run underneath it all day so it doesn't overheat. I've been running a setup like this for about 8+ years just interchanging laptops every few and have never had an issue. For me, I can run my business from literally anywhere in the world so being able to bring my laptop simplifies any work dilemmas. I know I could have dual setups and just bring the laptop when I'm away but to me this has been working for me so no point in changing it.
