Regarding anecdotal evidence, this JREF pdf on rationality has a very similar example (i.e. onions curing headaches) in the section "Deciding what is true".

Did not read thread but is this serious? You're still inhaling smoke into your lungs. Last time I checked that was understood to be bad for you.

Smoking isn't so popular these days anyways, alot of people are vaporizing, using concentrates, tinctures, and edibles. I prefer vaporizing bho or co2 honey oil out of a bong.

Did some studies while taking Neuroscience in college. It's not that bad as long as you don't smoke to ingest it. (Smoking it will cause the psychotropic effects that people adore so much.)

Nice write up. IMO I do believe cannabis should be legalized, at least to take off the black market and for local business to innovate on the product for us to be able to obtain "premium green properly grown" cannabis instead of some "bud" grown in someone's basement. With that being said I don't think it should be taken lightly, I don't promote the so called "pot-heads" since they're the equivalent of a "drunk". Just like alcohol; cannabis is not for everyone. I believe it should be used as a social drug just like alcohol is, something you do with friends occasionally. With all of this I'm still amazed ny the fact that cannabis is illegal while alcohol isn't. Just my 2 cents.

Interesting, do you recommend routine smoking or cooking it up and skin popping?

There's arsenic in our food so obviously arsenic is less dangerous than marijuana, at least according to the FDA.

Marijuana gives me panic attacks and de-realization. Out of about the 5 times I have been high only 2 were good.

Lot of pages, did not read but am familiar with the discussion as I grew up in what is referred to as the emerald triangle of CA - humboldt, trinity and mendocino counties and marijuana is/was a way of life up there. I smoked a lot of pot from the age of about 17 to 23 and was at points a chronic smoker. I developed chronic respiratory problems after years of smoking. I was without a doubt not as healthy as I am now. I have always been physically active but smoking a lot made it harder, no question. Shortness of breath, less lung capacity, less stamina, NTM less motivation in general. I also had chronic upper respiratory issues that never went away that all but disappeared when I stopped smoking. Stopped smoking years ago and lost interest. Give me a few beers now or a few glasses of wine and I'm good.

Health benefits for sick people? Yes. Health benefits for people suffering from chronic illness? Yes. Health benefits smoking marijuana vs. not for an otherwise healthy person? Doubtful.
