To be honest, chicken and waffles seems to be more of a "southern" dish. My family has been in the NYC area since I was 6, so I grew up in a different world compared to most places south of VA, lol.

My extensive experience in the military has exposed me to many cultures however, so I am familiar with many southern hosptalities as well.

So, to answer your question, I an not particularly a fan of chicken and waffles as a Jamaican raised in NY, but I can appreciate many of the guy's love for it depending on where I am stationed at the time...

... especially at 4 am Sunday morning after drinking all Saturday night while chasing ratchet chick's (formally known as chicken heads)

This is truth. my staple breakfast is Chicken breast and sometimes I ad a little oatmeal if there is time before I have to report back after morning PT Monday through Friday.

Chicken breast is an excellent source of clean protein after breaking down muscles every morning 5-6 days a week.

"It's been a minute" quite literally means it's been so long you don't remember how long it's been.

A "hot minute" is much longer than a standard minute but shorter than some indefinite time that gets lost to memory.

I wish I could be lazy, but I have no choice but to get it done at 6 am, so I just got used to it.
