Our forecast is for 2-4 inches of rain from the remnants of Hurricane Ida on Wednesday-Thursday. Multiple models are forecasting 5-6 inches for our town, though.
If I remember, I need to dump my Stratus manual rain gauge and set up my temporary Rainwise tipping bucket gauge to get two more opinions on our local rainfall totals from Ida.....

Even in Cali, we *MIGHT* get a bit of monsoonal moisture from Ida, up in Big Bear or eastern deserts.
Nuttin on the coast but overcast and 71 |

Ida's remnants started raining on us at 6:15 AM this morning, and my rain gauge just ticked over 2.00" at 4:15 PM...with plenty more to come overnight.....

It was supposed to pour here all day. It was drizzling when I left for work at 6:00am. Then nothing until about 4:30 pm. I guess we dodged the brunt of it. Forecast shows rain until 4:00am.

It WAS overcast. Then suddenly, as I'm lounging on the couch, I'm not working on my tan? Lol. Shit came out of nowhere. Know what this means? Time to go outside

The computer models were all over the place with rainfall projections here. I've got the over/under at 5.00" based on the median of their guestimates.....

Rain does allegedly take particulates (and allergens) out of the air, so it would make sense that the drops would get cleaner as the air loses those particulates. Not something that I have ever looked into, though. I don't even own a particulate (air quality) sensor.....

My suspicion is that the water would be difficult to tell apart with a TDS meter after the first bottle, which would catch the bulk of the particulates.....

Holy shit. So much for dodging the storm. We got hammered. I can’t believe what I’m seeing on news. 7 people dead from flooding in NYC, almost 10 inches of rain. One town over from my business in NJ got almost 12 inches.

It's a mess. I-287S is closed in Edison NJ. At first I thought it was an accident. There must be 20-30 cars all over the road. They must have gotten caught in a flash flood. I'm the only one that made it to the office so far.
My brother just sent me pics of Route 22, not sure what town but new cars on a dealership lot floated over the median and are blocking the road. What a shit show. Here are a few links showing the mess. https://www.silive.com/weather/2021/...rsey-town.html https://nypost.com/2021/09/01/nyc-st...-flash-floods/
